On a weekend or holiday, when you want to escape the stuffy city and heal in wide-open nature, where do you all head? I went to Pocheon, which is always a popular drive-out spot because it's only 30 minutes to an hour by car from Seoul!

Today's place is Geurine Oasis (그리네 오아시스), which is really hot on social media right now because you can enjoy a big lake view over beautiful Gomori Reservoir, and even a fire pit. Drinks, desserts and a romantic mood were all perfect, so let me walk you through my visit in a relaxed way.

It has a large dedicated parking lot and nearby public parking, so there's no parking worry if you come by car. It's close to Gwangneung Arboretum and Gomori Reservoir, so it works well as a Pocheon trip café or the final stop of a day trip from Seoul.

Geurine Oasis is known for its southern-European-style building and an outdoor terrace that takes in all of Gomori Reservoir. The first thing that caught my eye when I arrived was that stylish exterior, with the warm, classic feel of southern Europe.

There's a nicely arranged open-air terrace with the wide, blue Gomori Reservoir spread out in front of you. There's also roomy seating for up to 8 people, so it's great for a family outing or a get-together with friends.

When the weather turns cool, Geurine Oasis lets you feel the warmth of a fire pit outdoors ("bulmeong," zoning out while staring into a fire)! It's a perfect setting for a couple's anniversary or an unusual Pocheon date in a romantic mood.

That day at Geurine Oasis we ordered three drinks: a hot Americano, a matcha milk tea and a matcha strawberry latte. A warm, clean Americano, a smooth matcha milk tea, and a matcha strawberry latte with its fresh, sweet charm!

How do the matcha milk tea and matcha strawberry latte taste?

In both the matcha milk tea and the matcha strawberry latte at Geurine Oasis, the rich, slightly bitter matcha, smooth milk and sweet strawberry pulp came together nicely. They looked pretty and fully satisfied my taste buds too.

Handmade bakery baked in-store

Geurine Oasis is a big Pocheon bakery café that bakes salt bread, scones, bagels, croissants, chocolate pretzels and more in the store every day. True to a place that's more than a simple café, the smell of baking bread fills the shop and I just couldn't walk past! (I recommend pairing your drink with the croissant and salt bread, crisp outside and moist inside.)
