Dongtan jjamppong spot: aprons for white shirts, cockle bowl, Bultina
In short
Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch is a Chinese restaurant specializing in cockle jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) on Nojak-ro in the Dongtan Namgwangjang area of Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. The writer first came as a sponsored guest and now keeps returning as a paying regular; on a weekday lunch the writer and a younger sibling ordered the cockle jjamppong (11,000 won) at the default spice level, and the sibling, dressed in white, put on an apron from the self-bar right away. Even at the mild default level, the meat broth and smoky wok flavor run deep and the cockle and scallop meat is generous, making Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong worth revisiting whenever you crave jjamppong in Dongtan Namgwangjang.

This is a review of Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong in Namgwangjang, Dongtan, which I'd recommend if you're looking for a good jjamppong place in Dongtan. I first went as a sponsored guest, then paid for my own meals, and I keep coming back whenever a jjamppong craving hits. It's packed with cockles and scallops, yet it also has a meat-broth flavor, so it's really rich and tasty. So here's my review of this lunch visit!!!

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang: hours and parking
Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch is at 149 Nojak-ro, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, on the first floor, and it's open 11:00-03:00 (last order 02:00). On Mondays it closes at 9 PM (last order 8 PM), and you can use the public parking lot in front of the restaurant.

Bultina is a jjamppong place in Cheonan where people line up, and now that it has opened in Dongtan too, I find myself going regularly. It's a great pick if you're looking for cockle jjamppong in Dongtan, and the nearby public parking lot gives you 1.5 hours free, which is nice. If you're after a jjamppong spot in Dongtan, definitely go-!

Is there a wait at weekday lunch, and what's the vibe?
The restaurant is fairly big and always kept clean. On the weekend it was really crowded and we had to wait (there's a Catch Table tablet at the entrance), but weekday lunch was super easy~~ Still, customers keep coming in steadily, so you can tell it's a popular jjamppong spot.

Self-bar sides and aprons to keep white shirts clean
On one side there's a self-bar with pickled radish, onion and black bean paste, plus aprons for protection from jjamppong splatter, haha. My sibling happened to wear white that day, so the apron went on right away :)

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong menu and spice levels
The signature at Bultina is definitely the cockle jjamppong ✨, and you can choose the spice level from 1 to 4. The menu is simple, but being able to pick your spice level is good news for spice lovers and spice wimps alike. You can also tailor it to your taste for a hangover cure.
We ordered the cockle jjamppong for ₩11,000, at the default spice level of course. (By the way, the tangsuyuk (Chinese-style sweet and sour pork) here is good too, so I recommend it, haha) 👍👍

Is the default-spice cockle jjamppong spicy?
The red broth looks spicy, but the default level isn't spicy at all. It's a jjamppong with just the full savory depth of seafood and meat. It's also great as a hangover cure, so anyone nursing last night's drinking, gather round ^^ This is the hangover spot in Dongtan~~~

Generous cockles and a rich, smoky broth
As always, the cockle jjamppong portion is quite generous. And when you take a sip of the broth, it's rich but also has a slight smoky wok flavor, a perfectly good balance. Bultina stir-fries the ingredients and then draws out the broth to make the jjamppong, so it's seriously delicious.

The noodles, and why to try jjamppong rice
The noodles are just the basic style! It's so filling that you'll be very full after one bowl. If you prefer rice to noodles, I recommend the jjamppong rice. And the rice version comes with a small amount of noodles too, which I love, hahaha

Why I keep going back to Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong in Dongtan
Above all, the reason I keep going back is that it's really packed with springy cockle and scallop meat. There's so much of it that every time you pick up noodles, a piece of cockle comes along too. Is that for real~~~? The meat is also already shelled, so it's easy to eat, and the cockles are so springy with a great texture.
If you're looking for a jjamppong place in Dongtan, especially near Namgwangjang, try Bultina for its rich cockle jjamppong. The broth is delicious, and with all the cockles and scallops, you walk out having had exactly the taste you were after, you know?!

I said I'd write just a little today too, but it was so good that I polished off a whole bowl of jjamppong.
