Yongsan bunsik restaurant with chewy wheat rice cakes: Hyeonseonine
Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is a longtime tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) and bunsik (Korean street snack) restaurant within walking distance of Sinyongsan Station in Yongsan, Seoul. Three of us came for an early dinner and ordered the Hyeonseoni Combo Set at 26,000 won in medium spice — tteokbokki, sundae (blood sausage), mini gimbap, handmade fritters and three skewers of curly fish cake — and the wheat rice cakes stayed chewy to the last bite, sweet with a gentle kick of heat. If you want a whole spread of bunsik without debating the menu, the Hyeonseoni Combo Set is the answer.
