Lunchtime gukbap with self-serve kimchi in Jung-gu, Daegu: Hanwoojang
Hanwoojang is a 24-hour seolleongtang and ttaro-gukbap (spicy beef and rice soup) restaurant on Gukchaebosang-ro in Jung-gu, Daegu, a five-minute walk from Exit 4 of Jungangno Station. At lunch the special seolleongtang costs 13,000 won and the special ttaro-gukbap 12,000 won; both come with blood curd and extra noodles, and the blood curd pieces at Hanwoojang are unusually large. Open since 1968 and now run by the second generation, Hanwoojang was full of older regulars, and the self-serve kimchi and kkakdugi were the best part of the meal.
