Yongsan bunsik restaurant for solo dining and takeout: Hyeonseonine
Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is an instant-tteokbokki and bunsik (Korean snack food) restaurant near Sinyongsan Station in Yongsan, Seoul, started as a street food cart in 2004 and now grown to 8 company-run branches. Arriving alone just after the lunch rush, the writer ordered the Hyeonseon-i set — tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), fritters, sundae (blood sausage), mini gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) and fish cake — in the 20,000-won range, then packed the leftover tteokbokki and fritters to go. Even someone who rarely eats bunsik found the fritters light and the sundae and broth clean enough to come back for.
