Seoul Korean BBQ near Gangnam Station with a binchotan brazier: Giun

In short

Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch is a charcoal Korean BBQ restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, a 10-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 4. Every table at Giun has a privacy divider, and staff grill the 58,000 won Don-giun Set (galbi samgyeopsal, pork neck and outer skirt) over a binchotan white charcoal brazier, served with a 7,000 won pork intestine stew. The generous grilled minari, fernbrake and scallions alone make the set worth ordering.

Today I want to introduce "Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch," a spot I visited while looking for a samgyeopsal (pork belly) place near Gangnam Station!

Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch is a Gangnam Station BBQ house where you can have a private conversation and still eat really well. It's also close to Yeoksam Station, so it seemed like a great spot for a work dinner nearby or a Gangnam Station gathering for wedding invitations.

Where is Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch, and what are its hours?

Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch is open 16:00–23:00, with last order at 22:00. There's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to use a nearby parking area!

On foot, it's about 10 minutes from Gangnam Station Exit 4, about 15 minutes from Yangjae Station Exit 3, and about 15 minutes from Yeoksam Station Exit 3.

Exterior of Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch

Even the exterior had a lot of atmosphere. I heard a lot of people come here for wedding invitation gatherings, and the ✨exterior✨ made total sense of why.

How private are the divider seats at Giun?

Walking into Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch, there were more seats than I expected. Most tables have dividers between them so you don't immediately lock eyes with the table next to you, which made it comfortable to chat freely while eating.

If you're looking for a private restaurant, I'd recommend Giun.

House-made side dishes served with the meat

Once you sit down, the basic side dishes are set out neatly — mountain leek pickles, wasabi, salt, and a variety of sides that go well with meat, so there was fun in mixing and matching from the very first bite.

According to the store's signage, most of the side dishes and sauces — aside from the mountain leek pickles, wasabi, and salt — are made in-house. Maybe that's why they didn't overpower the meat's flavor but supported it well instead.

Binchotan charcoal brazier and staff grilling service

And then, the charcoal! Giun uses binjeotan (Japanese white charcoal), and as soon as the coals arrived, the subtle aroma spreading through the air already felt very different from a regular grill.

They use a brazier made of ochre clay and a cast-iron plate designed to hold heat for a long time, and since the staff grill everything for you, all we had to do was wait for the perfect moment to eat — so convenient!

Don-giun Set, 58,000 won (galbi samgyeopsal + pork neck + outer skirt)

The Don-giun Set comes with galbi samgyeopsal (rib-bone pork belly), pork neck, and outer skirt (gallmegisal) together for ₩58,000.

Three raw meat cuts from the Don-giun Set

Since it was my first visit, I wanted to try the signature cuts across the board rather than just one, so I ordered the set!

Signature galbi samgyeopsal (rib-cut pork belly)

The one I was most curious about, of course, was the galbi samgyeopsal! It's Giun's signature menu item — pork belly that's aged still attached to the bone, then hand-trimmed before serving.

That process gave it a noticeably deeper, nuttier flavor than regular samgyeopsal, and I could also taste the intercostal meat between the ribs, adding variety to the texture.

Since staff grill it directly, the outside picks up a subtle charcoal aroma from the binjeotan, while the inside stays full of juice — every bite was moist.

They also had a guide on how to eat it most deliciously, so I could enjoy it well every time! Following their instructions, I tried the first bite dipped lightly in just salt, and you could really taste the meat's own nuttiness — I'd recommend not piling on the sauce right from the start.

The white kimchi grilled alongside was also really delicious. Slightly tangy with amazing depth of flavor — a perfect match with the rich, fatty meat!

Thick-cut pork neck

The pork neck was more impressive than I expected, too. Even though it's on the thicker side, the staff grilled it to just the right doneness, so it wasn't dry at all — soft, and the more you chewed, the more juice came through. I feel like even people who normally don't like pork neck could enjoy this.

Why order the set: the grilled vegetables

And here's the reason to order the set menu — the generous portion of vegetables they give you.

With minari (water celery), fernbrake, and scallions bringing a sweet vegetable juice and satisfying bite, the grilled vegetables really rounded out the whole meat spread — I loved it.

The outer skirt (gallmegisal) has a chewier, springier texture than the pork neck or belly, so alternating between the three cuts really kept things from getting repetitive.

Pork intestine stew, 7,000 won

The pork intestine stew (don-jang jjigae) is ₩7,000.

And the pork intestine stew I ordered alongside! It's made with a broth base of whole radish, whole onion, and scallion, with pork added in. The broth was clean and refreshing while still carrying the pork's nutty richness, making it great to spoon up between bites of meat.

It wasn't overly spicy or salty either, which I appreciated since it didn't get in the way of the charcoal-grilled meat's flavor.

What kind of gathering suits Giun Gangnam Station?

Overall, Giun wasn't just a place with good meat — the space, the grilling service, and the side dish lineup all came together to make it easy to host a gathering here!

With plenty of private seating and staff grilling everything for you, it suits dates as well as work dinners or Gangnam Station wedding invitation gatherings, and having a menu item you can only get at Giun, like the galbi samgyeopsal, left a real impression.
