Quiet weekday afternoon at a Hongdae café: fig soufflé, Think Fruit

In short

Think Fruit is a dessert café in Mapo, Seoul, serving seasonal fruit soufflés and parfaits 281m from Exit 7 of Hongik University Station. On a weekday at 2:30pm, two friends ordered a fig soufflé and two Americanos at Think Fruit, and the fig-packed soufflé was light and fluffy enough to melt in the mouth. With sunlight through the floor-to-ceiling windows and mostly two-seat tables, Think Fruit suits both catching up with a friend and reading alone.

Does everyone love dessert? I go to cafés a lot and love sweet desserts with coffee, and recently I found a soufflé spot near Hongik University Station. Here's my review of Think Fruit, which turned out to be a fig soufflé gem!

Think Fruit's signature fig soufflé

What kind of café is Think Fruit, the soufflé spot in Hongdae?

Think Fruit is a seasonal fruit dessert café on Wausan-ro 29-gil near Hongik University Station. I went this week on a weekday with a friend, and with great desserts and a nice atmosphere, it's a café I want to recommend.

While browsing cafés, I saw a thumbnail photo of the soufflé and it looked so delicious that I thought, oh, let's check this place out!! — and that's how I ended up going.

Inside Think Fruit: window light and two-seat tables

Two-seat tables arranged with generous spacing

Think Fruit has floor-to-ceiling windows all around, so it felt open and airy, and the sunlight streaming in made the daytime café atmosphere really nice. The tables also weren't packed too close together, which I liked.

On a weekday, when I visited around 2:30pm there weren't many customers, but past 4pm the place started filling up. The tables are set up for two, so it also seems like a good spot to come alone and read a book.

Think Fruit menu: fruit that changes with the season

At this dessert café, the soufflé and parfait menus with fruit looked delicious. At the counter there's an iPad where you can swipe through photos of the desserts, which made ordering easy.

The fruit seems to change with the seasons, and right now they were selling fig and peach desserts. Next to the counter there were figs and peaches, with the peaches still ripening. Since they're both in season, I bet both are delicious.

Ordering the fig soufflé and two Americanos at Think Fruit

I was torn between the fig and peach soufflé, so I asked the staff which was sweeter, and they said the fig was sweeter, so I ordered the fig soufflé and two Americanos. Sweet dessert with an Americano — a classic combo.

How does the fig soufflé at Think Fruit taste?

Think Fruit's fig soufflé comes with Häagen-Dazs ice cream, whipped cream, three pieces of soufflé, and figs. Looking at the photo again, it still looks so good.

Just like in the photo, it was piled high with figs and the soufflé portion was quite satisfying!

We thought the seat in direct sunlight would be too hot, so we sat in the spot with tree shade instead — the little bit of sunlight coming in was pretty, and since figs are in season it was completely sweet, and the soufflé was so fluffy it melted right in my mouth, ugh.

Dipping it in the whipped cream and ice cream together, it was soft, sweet, and delicious. Above all, coming to a café on a weekday afternoon when there aren't many people, relaxing in the sunlight, eating good dessert, and chatting made me so happy... I found this café because the dessert thumbnail looked so good, and my friend and I left really satisfied. I'll come back for the soufflé again!!
