Today I'm going to tell you about a trip to Sokcho I took with my partner! There's always one place you end up stopping at when you go to Sokcho, right? Sokcho Central Market, of course, with tons of food and lots of fun just wandering around. This time too, while strolling through the market, we spotted a dessert shop we simply couldn't walk past.

It was Doris Patisserie (도리스 파티세리)! I generally love sweet desserts, so I decided to really enjoy some good snacks on this trip. Let me show you what was so appealing about it~
Where is Doris Patisserie and what's the vibe?
Doris Patisserie is a dessert shop inside Sokcho Central Market, at 26 Jungangno 147beon-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, on the first floor. Its bright pink exterior stands out right away in the market alley.

The first thing I noticed when we got to the shop was that bright pink exterior. Even amid the lively market atmosphere, it has a definite presence, haha. You can tell from the outside that it sells sweet desserts, so our feet naturally headed over.
Inside, we were greeted by the nutty, sweet smell of baked goods. At places like this, choosing a dessert is fun, but so is browsing for what to give as a gift, right? The neatly packaged boxes caught my eye too, so I thought it would be a good spot for travel souvenirs or snacks for people back home.
How much is the Original Egg Tart 6-piece box? We bought two

What we chose at Doris Patisserie was the Original Egg Tart in a box of 6, ₩15,000 per box. We bought two boxes in total!
We needed snacks to share, and we wanted plenty of good dessert during the trip. One box felt like it wouldn't be enough, so we boldly went with two, hahaha.

To me, the appeal of a good Sokcho egg tart spot goes beyond just selling a sweet snack: it gives you a little breather during a trip. You can pack some up while wandering the market and eat them at your accommodation, and they're easy to carry as a snack on the move.
How did the Original Egg Tart at Doris Patisserie taste?

The Original Egg Tart at Doris Patisserie has visibly layered pastry, so it looked delicious just sitting there. With egg tarts, the harmony between the crust's texture and the filling inside is what matters, right?

When you bite in, the outside shatters crisply while the inside blends softly, and that's the charm of an egg tart. The nutty richness of the egg-based filling plus the sweetness went well with coffee or tea too!

Personally, I think a dessert like this shouldn't just be sweet; a balance of rich flavor and soft texture matters. So buying plenty of the basic item felt even more satisfying, haha.
Buying tips before visiting Doris Patisserie

Doris Patisserie is known to prioritize reservation pickup, selling in store only what's left over. On weekends or busy days especially, you might not be able to get what you want, so it's best to check in advance whether you can reserve~
- Baking times and how things are sold can change, so contact the shop before you visit.
- If possible, eat the packed egg tarts the same day.
- When eating them later, reheating according to storage conditions and the product's instructions helps bring back the texture.
Craving something sweet on a Sokcho trip?

On this Sokcho trip with my partner, too, the Central Market was a must-visit stop. Add tasty food to the fun of browsing, and the whole trip feels that much better.

If you're looking for a good Sokcho egg tart spot, put Doris Patisserie on your shortlist. Thanks to the bright exterior and the easy-to-carry packaging, it's worth keeping in mind whether you're preparing trip snacks or looking for a dessert gift.

If you like basic flavors like me, why not start with the original? When you eat an egg tart, which matters more to you: crisp pastry, or soft, moist filling? Haha. If you're planning to visit Sokcho Central Market, check out Doris Patisserie too.
