Jayang-dong bakery for berry ricotta croissants to go: Stack Bakery
In short
Stack Bakery (스택베이커리) is a two-story bakery café in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin, Seoul, a short walk from Exit 5 of Konkuk University Station. After hearing Stack Bakery praised as a croissant spot even French people approve of, the writer took home a strawberry ricotta croissant, a blueberry ricotta croissant, a plain croissant, an olive cheese pastry and an egg flan, and found that every window looks out on green summer views, which makes it a good Konkuk University date spot too. Verdict: Stack Bakery is worth recommending whenever you crave a croissant full of buttery flavor.

A date-friendly café near Konkuk University, a famous Jayang-dong bakery, and a croissant spot worth the trip: Stack Bakery.

I had errands near Konkuk University and stopped by this Jayang-dong bakery, Stack Bakery, which turned out to be a croissant place "certified by a French person" that was all over the bread-lover (bbangsuni) feeds for a while. The bread looked great, but the café interior is perfect for a Konkuk University date too, and the view especially, so I wanted to share a review.
Stack Bakery location and parking

Walking around Konkuk University Station, you'll spot a two-story building with a vibe all its own. By public transit, just walk from Exit 5 of Konkuk University Station.
If you need to park, the Modu-ui Jucha-jang app shows quite a few good-value shared parking lots nearby, and there's also the Jayang 4-dong Traditional Market public parking lot a 5-minute walk away, so parking stress seemed low.
Stack Bakery menu: the croissant and pastry lineup

As mentioned, this Konkuk University café is a croissant place certified by a French person,

and I read that person's review and wanted to visit, so I'm lucky I ended up here by chance. As a self-proclaimed number-one croissant bakery, the croissants are the first thing you see,

and the rest of the pastry lineup made my mouth water too.

There were also things like salt bread and crookies (croissant-cookie hybrids), and quite a wide variety.

The drink lineup is above, and takeout drinks were ₩1,000 off. There are 4 kinds of croissant sandwiches, which you can also have as a set with an Americano.
1st and 2nd floor interior and green summer window seats

The essence-of-summer atmosphere of this Jayang-dong bakery café was exactly my taste,

with cute lamps wearing little hats, and every window was fresh with this kind of green summer view.

The ordering area on the 1st floor had cute props in a bright yellow color scheme.

The 1st floor also has chairs where you can sit while waiting for your bread to be packed.

The way up to the 2nd-floor seating area, and the restroom.
The 2nd-floor ceiling is slightly triangular, high but cozy. The window seats upstairs also had a healing view full of greenery, and since direct sunlight doesn't come in, all the guests were sitting by the windows.
There's a mini self-serve bar and convenience items like blankets. There's also an outdoor terrace separated by a wall, which I think would be perfect for a date in a romantic mood after sundown.
Croissant mukbang: strawberry and blueberry ricotta, and plain

The delicious breads I took home from Stack Bakery in Jayang-dong.

First, the olive cheese pastry, topped with olives and cheese.

Tangy olives inside the many crisp layers of pastry made it a new kind of treat, different from sweet Korean bread.

Next, the egg flan: lightly sweet custard in layers of pastry again. Soft and moist.
And now the main event, the croissants!! First, the strawberry ricotta croissant.

Inside a well-baked croissant, the combination of fresh strawberry compote and tangy ricotta made the croissant itself truly delicious.

Next from this Jayang-dong bakery was the blueberry ricotta croissant. Lots of blueberry compote with ricotta was a great combo. I got excited and picked two dessert-style ones, but the egg potato or other meal-type sandwiches probably would have been really good too.

I couldn't skip the plain croissant either, so I brought one home. It was a lovely brown color with tons of butter layers, and the soft butter flavor made me think a French person would indeed rave about it.
Since I like desserts, personally I loved the compote sandwiches with the tang of ricotta. If a friend asked, I'd tell them to try the plain plus either the blueberry or the strawberry.

Overall verdict
Stack Bakery in Jayang-dong is a great café for a Konkuk University date, with a romantic interior and a nature view that was exactly my taste. We took our bread to go, but with that green backdrop it looks like a tasty bakery to spend time in around Konkuk University. I recommend it when you want a croissant that shatters crisply and is full of buttery flavor.
