Mapo burger spot: top-3 Shrimp O.G and thick milkshake, Bored & Hungry

I was craving a handmade burger the other day, so I headed to Bored & Hungry Mapo, a burger place near Daeheung Station in Mapo. It's in my top 3 of all the handmade burgers I've had... I love shrimp burgers, and I was amazed from the very first bite! If you're looking for a good handmade burger spot in Mapo, I recommend Bored & Hungry :)

Bored & Hungry Mapo location and opening hours

Bored & Hungry Mapo is at 36 Gwangseong-ro 6-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 1st floor. It's open daily 11:00–20:50, with a break time from 15:50 to 17:00.

Getting there from Daeheung Station: a forest path walk

Bored & Hungry Mapo is an easy walk from Daeheung Station, and since the forest path runs right in front of the shop, it's a nice stop during a stroll. We walked over from around Gongdeok Station! There's plenty of shade, so it's a lovely place for a walk or a date!

I was wondering what to have for dinner, and there happened to be a burger place with a rating of over 4.8, so we went! Just from the photos I could tell it would be delicious, so we came without a second thought haha. Even though it was early evening, there were quite a lot of people, so if you're going at peak time, I'd recommend calling ahead!

Atmosphere inside Bored & Hungry Mapo

Bored & Hungry started in Seongsu, became one of Seongsu's signature hot spots, and then set up shop in Mapo too. No wonder people call it the trendiest burger place in Korea! The shop is hip through and through! It felt like being in a burger joint in America! It also looked like a good place to rent out for a party or a group dinner, so you could book it for those.

The self-serve bar at Bored & Hungry Mapo is hip too! It has wet wipes, hot sauce, small plates, disposable gloves and more, and oddly enough the gloves are black! It gave me a mukbang (eating show) feeling, and since they aren't ordinary plastic gloves, it was extra fun to eat with them!

You order through a QR code at your table :) We picked two signature items, but there were so many delicious-looking options that we agonized over it for ages ㅜ

What is the O.G Champion burger?

The O.G Champion is a burger with sautéed onions and a double patty, and apparently it won the 2022 best burger award! How could we not try a burger that won a best burger award!

Shrimp O.G: the taste that shook my favorite shrimp burger ranking

Second is the Shrimp O.G burger! I like shrimp burgers far more than regular burgers, so at burger places I mostly order the shrimp one! Until now the tastiest shrimp burger for me was Downtown Burger, but after eating Bored & Hungry's Shrimp O.G, my ranking got shaken up...

The Shrimp O.G burger is packed with plump, bouncy shrimp, and the O.G Champion has a great double patty and cheese combo! (Plus, eating with the black gloves on made me feel like a mukbang star.)

And then the sides we couldn't resist...! How could anyone not eat cheese sticks like these... I couldn't get a shot of cutting one with a knife and the cheese stretching, but eating them right as they came out, the cheese was really delicious!

The self-serve bar has lots of kinds of sauces, so we could enjoy the fries and cheese sticks even more :)

The milkshake we ordered went with the fries! Bored & Hungry's milkshake is really thick. The milk flavor is stronger than at other places, which was just my style!

Bored & Hungry was perfect down to the sides! If you're looking for a good place to eat near Daeheung Station in Mapo, I recommend Bored & Hungry!
