Yangjae-dong Korean restaurant: ₩12,000 lunch sets shared at Onyangjae

Onyangjae (온양재) is a Korean pub at night, but at lunchtime it's a popular Korean restaurant for office workers nearby. It's close to my office, so I went with my coworkers!

Onyangjae hours and break time

Onyangjae is open Monday to Friday 11:00-24:00 and Saturday 18:00-24:00, and closed on Sundays. On weekdays there's a break time from 15:00 to 17:00, so please avoid those hours!

I work nearby, so I went at weekday lunchtime!

Onyangjae parking and lunch special menu

For parking, it looks like 2-3 cars can fit in front of the restaurant. And the lunch specials include braised ribs, yukhoe bibimbap (seasoned raw beef bibimbap), and even my beloved pork cutlet, can you believe it?

Inside Onyangjae: good for solo meals and dates?

At lunchtime, the window seats at Onyangjae are often taken by people eating alone! The seating is open and roomy, so I think it would be perfect for a drink in the evening after a date at Yangjae Citizen's Forest.

Also, I didn't know this, but Onyangjae has lots of traditional Korean liquor and whisky too? (The drinker in me is getting excited.)

You order from a tablet at your seat. There were three of us, so we planned to each order a different dish and share everything, hahahaha

Hahaha, I wanted a drink, but since I was on the clock (?), I behaved and got three kinds of soda.

Perilla oil makguksu + pork cutlet set and side dishes

The perilla oil makguksu + pork cutlet is a ₩12,000 set that comes with both the noodles and the cutlet. Hahaha, yes, the cutlet addict (me) ordered this one. And wait, jangjorim (soy-braised beef) is usually pricey so places don't give it as a side dish, but Onyangjae is so generous!❤️

How fresh is the Hanwoo 1++ yukhoe bibimbap?

The Hanwoo 1++ yukhoe bibimbap is a ₩12,000 lunch dish. Just look at the color of the raw beef and egg yolk, so fresh and pretty...

The aroma of the perilla oil in the makguksu tickles your nose in the best way! *sniff sniff* So good... The cutlet and the cabbage salad with sesame dressing were nutty and went well together, too.

Royal-style braised pork ribs: tender, soft meat

The royal-style braised pork ribs, a ₩12,000 lunch dish, were HB's order! I got to try a piece too, and the pork was tender and practically melted. Seriously???

After eating it all, what's the best dish at Onyangjae?

Ah! The cutlet at Onyangjae was piping hot, and dipping it in the sauce with wasabi mixed in was amazing!!! I ordered it expecting the cutlet to be the star, but the perilla oil makguksu was far, far tastier!

Sneaking pork ribs like a little piggy, nom nom...

Hahaha, I also tried a bite of the yukhoe bibimbap, and the raw beef was so fresh I wanted to order it on its own... 👍

Hahaha, I'm a messy eater, so I usually don't take photos of empty plates, but it was so much better than expected that I had to take a clean-bowl shot!

I'd recommend Onyangjae as a lunch spot for office workers near Yangjae-dong, and if you want tasty snacks with traditional Korean liquor at a Korean pub after a date at Yangjae Citizen's Forest, definitely stop by!!!
