Nambu Terminal chicken restaurant with Mega Crunch Potato: Kkanbu

In short

Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch is a chicken restaurant near Seoul Arts Center in Seocho, Seoul, a 2-minute walk from Exit 1 of Nambu Terminal Station on Line 3. Over an evening with a friend, the order was the crispy Six Pack at 24,000 won, Mega Crunch Potato at 14,000 won and a 500cc icy Terra draft beer, and the thick-cut fries and cold beer matched the crunch of the Six Pack well. The free ground-level parking lot in front of Kkanbu Chicken makes it an easy stop before or after a performance.

The area near Seoul Arts Center has plenty of great spots for people to grab a meal or drinks after a show.

This time I visited Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch, right in front of Nambu Terminal Station. Chicken is always a treat, but pairing it with cold beer after a performance is unbeatable.

I went with a friend in the evening and enjoyed chicken, a side dish, and draft beer together.

That day we ordered one Crispy Six Pack, one Mega Crunch Potato, and one 500cc icy draft beer (Terra).

Mega Crunch Potato and a 500cc icy Terra draft beer

The Mega Crunch Potato and beer arrived first.

The Mega Crunch Potato had a generous portion, which I appreciated. The thick-cut fries were crispy and nicely seasoned, good enough to eat plain, and even better dipped in ketchup — savory and salty in a way that paired well with the chicken.

The icy draft beer (Terra) was the perfect match for chicken. Poured into a glass that had been chilled in the fridge beforehand, it felt as refreshing and cold as if it had actual ice slush in it.

What kind of chicken is the crispy Six Pack?

This place's signature crispy Six Pack comes with 3 thigh pieces and 3 wings — hence the name — and it lived up to its crispy reputation.

The outside was genuinely crunchy like a chip, but the meat inside stayed moist, and it wasn't overly greasy so it felt clean to eat. The seasoning wasn't too intense either, leaning savory and mild rather than spicy.

The chicken's natural flavor really came through, and paired with beer it was a fantastic combination. The crispiness of the chicken and the coldness of the beer together felt like total stress relief.

Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch was the perfect spot to enjoy chicken and beer near Seoul Arts Center. The crispy Six Pack lived up to its name, and paired with the Mega Crunch Potato and a cold draft beer, it made for a perfect evening.

The atmosphere was lively and the staff were friendly, making it a solid pick for a gathering or date. The prices were reasonable and the menu varied enough that I don't think I'd get tired of coming back.

Next time I definitely want to try the garlic soy boneless chicken and the soup tteokbokki.
