Ewha hair salon root volume perm + chest-length layered cut: Eco Revy
In short
Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch is a hair salon, also known for its head spa, on the 2nd floor of a building right in front of Ewha Womans Univ. Station (Line 2) in Seodaemun, Seoul. At Eco Revy Hair, the writer had waist-length hair cut to mid-chest in a layered cut and got a first-ever iron-set root volume perm (ad perm) for ₩60,000, plus ₩30,000 for the cut, in a little over 2 hours. A week later the roots still looked noticeably less flat, so the writer came away happy with the Eco Revy Hair root perm.

Between work and personal stuff I've been so busy lately that hair care was the very first thing I neglected..! T_T So this is the story of a friendly, good-value hair salon near Ewha Womans Univ. Station, Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch (에코레비헤어 이대점), where I tidied up my grown-out hair and tried a root volume perm and a layered cut for the first time in my life :)
Where is Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch, and what about parking?
Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch is on the 2nd floor at 4 Ihwayeodae 2-gil, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, and it's open Mon–Sun 10:30–20:30. It's really, really close to Ewha Womans Univ. Station on Line 2, and paid parking is available in the Yes APM building.

I took a half day off for my first salon visit in ages, so this office worker enjoying a weekday afternoon was extra excited..^_^
Inside the 2nd floor and the head spa
Eco Revy is famous for its head spa, and maybe that's why the other customers seemed to be mostly there for scalp care. I came to finally trim my length, get a pretty layered cut, and try a perm for the first time.

I booked through Naver and was looked after by a director who was so kind and cheerful! Not overbearing friendliness, just really good service, so my time at the salon felt like pure healing.. >.<

There's a separate consultation room like that, and they did a free scalp check. They said my pores weren't in bad shape, which gave this person who has never done any scalp care a little sigh of relief..! hehe Since I already had a treatment in mind, I told them about it and waited at the big table for a moment.
Drinks and snacks while you wait
Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch has a drink menu too. I hadn't gotten my coffee fix that day, so I asked for an iced Americano for a caffeine transfusion.

They also set out sweet Lotus Biscoff cookies and a grain crispy roll for a sugar boost, haha. The director was so kind and lively that I felt comfortable the whole time :)
How much did the waist-length hair get cut in the layered cut?
The biggest change this time was the length. My hair came down to my waist, and since I wanted the cut to actually show, I kept a long-hair feel but, following the director's suggestion, bravely trimmed more than I expected, to about mid-chest, haha.

To some people it's still plenty long, but for me, starting that long, it felt like a big cut lol. With long hair, describing it by where it lands on your body works better than saying a number of centimeters, don't you think?

This is the before hair, long and pretty messy, right? The color had faded and I wanted to dye it too, but I didn't have the time that day, so I put the tone-down color dye off for later and went with the layered cut + root perm I'd aimed for.
How does the Eco Revy root volume perm work, and how long does it take?

The root perm I got was an ad perm done with an iron, which they described as a natural look! The cut ended up a bit shorter than I'd planned, tidied to around the middle of my chest *.*

The time wasn't as long as I expected either. They even did a simple styling at the end, and the total was a little over 2 hours, I think. Afterwards the limp roots definitely felt revived!!
Root volume perm and layered cut: the after
Finally, the after hair you've been waiting for! I had a photo shoot scheduled, so they finished it prettily with a curling iron, which I liked even more.. >.<
The length is much shorter, and the layers are cut properly without being too light. The director looked at the shape of my head and did the root perm customized for me, so even if you have something you're self-conscious about, no need to worry! They also kept listening to the customer's opinion throughout, which I loved.

Does the root perm volume last a week later?
I already style my hair a fair bit, so I figured I didn't need a full perm. I just wanted a pretty layered trim and volume at the roots, which always go flat, so I tried it for the first time. The director kept telling me that a perm like this doesn't last long, and I knew that going in, so I was satisfied!
Even now, over a week after the treatment, if I pay just a little attention while drying, my roots no longer look pressed flat like before, even if it isn't super puffy volume, so my hair stress has definitely dropped, hehe.

Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch root perm and cut prices
With the kind director (day off: Wednesday), I did a root volume perm for ₩60,000 + a cut for ₩30,000. She's quick with her hands and customer-friendly, doing both the cut and the perm sensibly and tailored to me. That was Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch, a hair salon by Ewha Womans Univ. Station 🥰
