Self-photo studio in Hongdae for solo profile and bouquet shots: U&I

Today I'm introducing a place I haven't visited in a while: U&I (유앤이), a self-shoot studio in the Hongdae and Yeonnam-dong area. It's a clean, tidy photo studio where you can take neat profile photos just for yourself, or come with friends, a partner or family on special days and use pretty backdrops, props and dresses to get memorable pictures. This time I went solo and took some self-photos, so let's start the review! :)

Location and hours of U&I Studio Hongdae Branch

U&I Studio Hongdae Branch is at 51 Woldeukeopbuk-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 3rd floor, Room 301, and it's open Monday to Sunday, 10:00–19:00. It's about 700 meters from Exit 1 of Hongik Univ. Station.

How to get to U&I Studio from Hongik Univ. Station

It's about 700 meters from Exit 1 of Hongik Univ. Station, and since I'd checked beforehand that it's in an oriental medicine clinic building, I didn't get lost, luckily.

Luckily there's an elevator inside the building, so I rode up to the 3rd floor easily. The sign was right in front, and when they heard me outside, the staff inside opened the door right away, haha.

What's the inside of U&I Studio like?

U&I Studio Hongdae Branch is an indoor studio with a white background that blocks natural light and relies on lighting. The whole self-photo studio felt clean and tidy!

Next to the water purifier there are snacks like sweet candy, perfect for when your face aches from smiling and you need a sugar boost. Thoughtful, hahaha.

Hanging flower props and artificial flowers

On one side there were hanging flower props, plus lots of artificial flowers that are great to hold, so I tried a few myself. It's fun to mix different kinds, and even though they're artificial, they look pretty enough in photos!

Dress and suit rental and the changing room

And in the changing room at the back, there was quite a variety of dresses.

At U&I Studio Hongdae Branch you can rent dresses for an extra fee when booking on Naver, or use them for free by signing up for the review event, paying a deposit in advance and getting it refunded. That makes it great value for bridal showers, other anniversary shoots, or photos with friends or a partner~!

Perhaps because suits are also available, you can even iron your clothes properly, and there's a mirror with equipment like a curling iron and hair dryer for styling your hair, so you can get fully ready before shooting, hehe.

Is 60 minutes enough when you go alone?

I booked on Naver in advance, and since I was alone, the shooting time honestly felt plenty. I could shoot at my own pace, which was more comfortable, and without worrying about anyone watching I could try lots of things and get past the awkwardness, heh heh.

You can also look at the sample photos on the wall and talk over how you want to shoot.

You can check the remaining time in front of you, and the screen updates with your shots in real time, so you can check your face and adjust right away.

Solo profile and flower bouquet concept shots

I gathered a few artificial flowers like a mini bouquet and shyly (?) took concept shots, and also tried a neat standard profile, experimenting with lots of things.

Even a stiff beginner like me felt I was gradually getting better by watching the screen and fixing my face and pose as I went 🤭

The camera position and mirror are easy to see, and there are various props beside the shooting area, so I could swap them as I went and it never felt like a burden! A big plus of this Hongdae studio was its relaxed atmosphere where ordinary people can look good without pressure.

The staff were very kind and the studio felt comfortable and clean, so whatever mood you're shooting, and whether you come alone or in a group, this self-shoot studio in Hongdae and Yeonnam-dong seemed fine for everyone.
