What Gangnam Dakhansang looks like from outside

Inside Gangnam Dakhansang: good for groups?

The inside of Gangnam Dakhansang Guri Dolidari branch is huge, so I think it's perfect if you're looking for a place to go with a group!! I went almost at closing time, so it was quiet and nice.
Menu and prices: how much does the abalone add-on cost?

At Gangnam Dakhansang you can add live octopus and live abalone to your chicken stew (dakbokkeumtang) or whole-chicken hot pot (dakhanmari) in any amount you like, which I loved. It feels like eating a health tonic meal!! Also, I heard that if you write a receipt review, extra noodles or rice cakes (sari) are free, so quickly write one and eat until you burst •• ♥
Here's what I ordered.
- Chicken stew (dakdoritang), whole chicken ₩39,000
- 4 live abalone added ₩12,000
What side dishes come with the chicken stew?

The basic side dishes are kimchi, bean sprouts, onion and chili peppers. The onion has just the right amount of its sharpness taken out, so it's tasty even just dipped in ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste), and it went so well with the spicy kick of the chicken stew. Totally satisfied! ♥

If you run out of side dishes, you can refill them at the self-service corner haha.
How is the whole chicken stew served?

When you order the chicken stew, a pot lid(?) comes out first. It was so big it was funny, and I wanted to show you the size, so my boyfriend and I put our hands next to it right away and took a photo haha. It's really, really big!! Seeing it in person, it's huge.

They also gave us a whole bowlful of perilla leaves and green onions haha. Wait a moment and they'll boil it together with the chicken stew.

The chicken stew appeared in a gigantic bowl.. hahaha. They carefully transfer it for you.

And we piled on lots of the perilla leaves and green onions they gave us at the start haha.
Is adding live abalone to the chicken stew worth it?

And the 4 live abalone I added! They were really alive and moving, and my appetite.. wow haha.

I thought the abalone would be small, but they were pretty big and plump! They also came cleaned up nicely, so I was so happy.. ♥
How does the chicken stew at Gangnam Dakhansang taste?

The chicken in the Gangnam Dakhansang chicken stew is really.. really so tender. It slides into your mouth softly with a little chewiness, pure bliss.
Even though the chicken pieces are quite big for a chicken stew, the seasoning had soaked in well haha. Filling your mouth with the soft, spicy chicken is so good.

There are also lots of fluffy potatoes!

They said they take the abalone out of the shell beforehand to make it easy to eat, and when I went to eat it, it really came off effortlessly, so convenient! ♥

These aren't abalone just for show. They're truly plump, with the innards intact too ⊹ ₊ ⸝⸝⸝ ♡ I'd definitely add them again if I go back!!!

The chicken is so juicy, isn't it.. ㅠㅠ The spicy broth with that tender chicken just goes down endlessly.
I don't normally like rice cakes (tteok), but I go crazy for the ones that are soft and floppy with no ego, wheat-flour ones like these. Soaked through in the broth until squishy is the best ⟡ᱸ⁎⁺˳ ♡.ᐟ.ᐟ

There's gizzard in there too!!

A crazy glossy drumstick ⊹ ₊ ⸝⸝⸝ ♡ It was so beautiful I just had to take a photo.
Should you finish with ramyeon noodles and kkakdugi fried rice?

I added ramyeon noodles too haha. The chicken stew broth has lots of vegetables and is spicy, so the ramyeon noodles went perfectly.

And I ate a good bite together with the chicken ~! haha.

Fried rice is a must.. ^^ It was fried rice with kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) in it, and the crunchy, tangy bits here and there are a total kick. So good.

Eaten with the leftover chicken stew, it's a dream pairing ^_^
Verdict: is Gangnam Dakhansang the chicken stew spot to pick in Guri?
I've cracked a great chicken stew spot in Guri!!! I already have a place I love and only go there, but Gangnam Dakhansang Guri Dolidari branch was so delicious in its own different way..
The Korean-style spicy heat, like a spicy kimchi stew(?), with plump, tender chicken was so appealing, and the fresh, plump abalone was great too. The seating is roomy, so I think it would be great for a group as well!! Highly recommended as a chicken stew spot in Guri.
