In short
Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch is a retro, old-school monkfish and seafood stew restaurant on Buil-ro in Wonmi-gu, Bucheon, near Bucheon Station. Craving monkfish stew, the writer went for dinner and ordered the stone-plate collagen monkfish stew set (43,000 won) with the default skin-on, bone-in cut; it had few bones, so the tender flesh and savory sauce were easy to enjoy. Why I picked Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch for a monkfish dinner
Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch (해물특별시 부천역본점) is a monkfish and seafood stew restaurant at 440-6 Buil-ro, 1st floor, near Bucheon Station. It is open 16:00–05:00 on weekdays and 11:30–04:00 on weekends, and has free parking. I was choosing a dinner spot near Bucheon Station and suddenly craved monkfish stew (agujjim) for the first time in a while, so I went!

Apparently this place is famous for good value and generous portions? It was also featured on KBS's "Live Info, Master of Business" (생생정보 장사의신), so I was even more curious.

What are the atmosphere and seating like?
The restaurant fully recreates a retro, old-school eatery vibe, so it felt familiar even on my first visit. It holds up to 50 people, which suits company dinners and family gatherings. If you plan to come with a group, please call the restaurant and reserve first!
It isn't closed off. The space is wide open so you can look outside, and it feels like an indoor-outdoor street pub combined, which I loved.

Chairs for your belongings, chargers and even an arcade machine
The chairs can store your belongings, so having a bag or coat was no trouble at all.

There are chargers and even an arcade machine, so you can play a round while waiting for your food.

A table setup with tongs and scissors, no asking needed
Each table had everything: a bone bucket, tongs, scissors, sauces, small plates and more. Many restaurants don't have tongs or scissors out, so I always have to ask, but here they set them out without being asked. So convenient, honestly ㅠㅠ

What can you get with the review event?
The review event offers a nice variety of things. Choose a soft drink and it's free, and toppings like squid, small octopus and roe can be ordered at a discount!

Menu and prices: what to order for two?
I think the biggest strength here is that you can choose everything from size to spice level, so you get exactly the flavor you want. The main set menus (hansang, a full spread) are below.
- Whole squid seafood stew set 5.8
- Whole squid seafood soup set 5.8
- Seafood monkfish stew set 5.8
- Collagen monkfish stew set 4.3
- Fish roe stew set 4.3
Adding squid or small octopus, or finishing with fried rice, seemed to be the most popular combo ❤ Besides the sets, there is also a mini monkfish stew served on a plate, so if a full set feels like too much, the mini is a good option!
My personal take: a main set menu is good for two people to eat until full, and a plate menu works for two as a side to rice (with extra sides added).

There are also instructions on how to eat it best, so I read them closely before the food came out ^.^

The restroom is inside the restaurant too!

I waited while setting out the sauces and other things, and the main dish came out quickly!
Stone-plate collagen monkfish stew set, ₩43,000: what arrives?
I ordered the stone-plate collagen monkfish stew set for ₩43,000. When you order a set menu at Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch, you get a true full spread: corn mayo, steamed egg, white kimchi, seaweed soup and more.

They set out the side dishes first, and the stone-plate dish arrives after a short wait!

The corn mayo was so good too,,

A stone-plate monkfish stew set piled high with minari (water dropwort) and bean sprouts! Flat dumplings (napjak mandu) come with it too, and wrapping the stew in them is an insane combo.

Why I chose the bone-in default over boneless
Haemul Teukbyeolsi also has a boneless option, but the boneless version has neither bones nor skin. I really love the skin when eating monkfish stew, so I ordered the default bone-in version, and it doesn't have many bones to begin with! The flesh was tender and plentiful, so I could eat comfortably without anything getting in the way.
And with seafood stews like this, the sauce matters most. The spice level was just right and the sauce was savory and rich, so if I meet a friend who likes monkfish stew, I'd want to take them here again haha
Who is Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch good for?
I recommend Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch to anyone choosing a dinner menu near Bucheon Station or looking for a place to meet up!! Hot, tender monkfish stew goes especially well with cold weather, so right now is the perfect time to eat it 😍
