Second-round pizza pub in Isu: ₩8,900 mac and cheese slice, Raymond
In short
Raymond Isu Branch is a craft beer and pizza pub in the alley behind Isu Xi apartments, near Exit 9 of Isu Station in Dongjak, Seoul. After beef for the first round, the writer and a friend stopped by Raymond Isu Branch for a second round of a ₩8,900 mac and cheese pizza slice, boneless half-and-half chicken, and a lager, porter ale, pale ale and blueberry sour ale. Salty pizza and chicken pair well with the craft beer, which makes Raymond Isu Branch a good pick for a second-round pizza and beer near Isu Station.

Pizza and beer for round two near Isu Station: Raymond Isu Branch
Raymond Isu Branch is a pizza and craft beer pub near Isu Station, great for a light second round. I got off kid duty early, became a "free husband" for the night, and headed to Isu to see a friend I hadn't met in ages. We'd already stuffed ourselves with beef for round one, so round two had to be light. Which is exactly why pizza and beer is the answer.

Where is Raymond Isu Branch, and what's the vibe?
Raymond Isu Branch sits in an alley behind Isu Xi apartments near Exit 9 of Isu Station, roughly behind the McDonald's. That sign is so hip. Way too hip for a guy worn down by parenting and drowning in estrogen. And the sign has all my favorite words: Premium. Craft. Beer. Pizza. Chicken. (sobbing)

I like that it isn't in the crowded restaurant alley of Isu Station. The alley has a comfortable number of people, which makes it even better.
World champion craft beer, come to papa! After kid duty my life has been nothing but Cass and Hite Zero, so how long has it been since I had craft beer?!!

Raymond Isu Branch has that casual pizza-and-beer pub feel. Not too loud, just nicely lively. It works for a second round with a friend, with coworkers, or as a light date for a couple.

The self-serve bar and the brewmaster
At the self-serve bar at Raymond Isu Branch you can help yourself to pepperoncino and hot sauce. The self-serve bar interior is totally my taste... I'm so happy I can use pepperoncino and hot sauce freely (sobbing). Pepperoncino and Tabasco, so good!! And apparently the brewmaster is the first Korean recognized by the world as a brewmaster!!! Anyone who loves "first ever" stuff will be so excited. Maybe it's because I'm a free husband for the first time in ages, but I love everything...

A whole pizza too much for round two? Pizza slices under ₩9,000
Raymond Isu Branch has pizza slices in the ₩8,000 range, which makes it easy to order light for a second round. Honestly, a whole pizza for 2–3 people at round two is a lot. But slices are a different story. We ordered straight away on the table order system. The boneless chicken tempted me, but for round two we started with a pizza slice and lager.

Mac and cheese slice for ₩8,900: one is enough for two
Tonight's order was the mac and cheese pizza slice, a Pilsner lager and a porter ale. The ₩8,900 mac and cheese pizza fills a whole stainless steel plate. You know nothing beats a mac and cheese(?) pizza for a light bite, right?!! But even for two people, one slice is plenty. Ordering 2 slices would have been a disaster. I like the price too... these days you can't eat anything out for under ₩10,000, so a size like this is practically defying inflation.

Thin, crispy dough piled with mac and cheese topping, and even the crust edge is crispy. Pass!

Lager and porter ale: pairing with salty pizza
I picked the lager said to have won 22 international beer awards, and my friend picked the porter ale said to have won 29! The lager is tasty and the porter ale is tasty too... The mac and cheese slice is big, but it's also nicely salty, which makes it a good pairing for lager. The lager's fizz goes down smooth too. Awards don't lie! Beer always circles back to lager in the end. Round and round we go!!!

Why we added boneless half-and-half chicken
After the pizza at Raymond Isu Branch, we ordered boneless half-and-half chicken and refilled our lager and ale. Here's the thing, though. If you only eat pizza, the chicken gets upset. And boneless chicken is light, right?! No bones, so basically light.

The boneless half-and-half chicken arrived. Wow, the saltiness is perfect for beer. Chicken, beer, beer, chicken. Chicken and beer, beer and chicken, endless loop. Endless loop...

Blueberry sour ale for salty snacks
At Raymond Isu Branch we also tried an American pale ale and a blueberry sour ale, and the blueberry sour ale won me over. This is a craft beer place and it felt like we'd only had two kinds, so we ordered others. The pizza and chicken at Raymond Isu are fairly salty overall, and the fresh, tart flavor soothed that saltiness nicely.

Is it worth recommending for a second round near Isu Station?
If you're looking for a second-round spot or a pizza place near Isu Station, I'd recommend Raymond Isu Branch. We definitely came for a light second round, yet we wrecked several glasses of beer with pizza and chicken. Of course, the one who got wrecked was me. A salty, reasonably priced, face-sized pizza slice with craft beer is all you need.
1. A great pizza and beer spot for a second round in Isu 2. Salty pizza and chicken that keep making you think of beer
