Some days in Jongno you just want a clean, tidy sushi lunch or dinner! 🍣 Even when I'm just eating a meal, I sometimes crave sushi topped with fresh raw fish. Jongno is full of office workers and has so many restaurants that picking one gets tricky. So this time I visited Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch (최우영스시야 종로점), which is said to serve premium sushi and sashimi at reasonable prices! ٩( ᐛ )و

What I ordered this time was the Premium Geukssang Sushi 17pcs for two, plus fried tofu udon. Getting plenty of sushi and a bowl of warm udon on the side made for a really filling meal. For anyone looking for a good place near Jonggak Station, here are the dishes I ordered at Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch and my review of the visit.

What is the atmosphere like at Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch?

If you're hunting for good sushi in Jongno, Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch is worth a look. Sushi works for a quick solo meal, and it's also great for sharing lots of items with a friend or partner, right? Jongno is an area where office workers come for lunch or after-work dinners, so I thought it was a solid option when you're craving a tidy sushi meal.

Going alone, sushi is an easy yet filling meal; with friends, you can each order your own and eat to your taste. On a date when you want Japanese food, or for a neat meal with family, sushi is an easy, low-pressure choice, I think.

Plants are placed all around the restaurant, so the mood was relaxed 🌿 and with soft lighting and tidy interiors it felt cozy overall. There are plenty of bar table seats too, which made it easy to eat at leisure, and lots of people seemed to come to dine solo!
The menu and what I paid that day

- Premium Geukssang Sushi (17pcs) ₩33,000 × 2
- Fried tofu udon ₩5,000
- Coke Zero ₩2,000
What comes in the Premium Geukssang Sushi 17pcs?

The table came already set, and each seat had house-made soy sauce, spoon and chopsticks, tableware, pickled scallions (rakkyo) and ginger!

The Premium Geukssang Sushi arrived! 🍣 With so many kinds on one plate, it looked generous from the first glance. There was white fish, deep-colored fish like tuna, shrimp, egg, and seaweed-wrapped pieces, so picking through them was fun.
With such a variety on one plate, you can taste them one by one and find the ones you like. Each fish had a different color and shape, so it was great for photos too. I could see sea urchin roe and tuna sushi, thick egg sushi, shrimp sushi and more, so it suits anyone who wants to enjoy many flavors rather than just one.

We ordered the Premium Geukssang Sushi for two and ate 34 pieces in total, a good pick when you want plenty of sushi. If you're searching for a place near Jonggak Station and want many kinds of sushi at once, check out the Premium Geukssang Sushi on the menu!
Is the ₩5,000 fried tofu udon a good side for sushi?

The fried tofu udon (yubu udon) at Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch is ₩5,000, served in a big bowl with udon noodles, fried tofu, seaweed and green onion 🍜 The toppings were generous over the broth, and I could see plump udon noodles, so it's a nice side when you crave something warm.
When you're eating sushi and start wanting warm broth, a bite of udon makes the meal more varied, right? It was a good thing to add when sushi alone feels a little short. At ₩5,000, it's an easy extra to pick alongside the main sushi.
I also ordered a Coke Zero, and they brought it in a pretty glass filled with ice! It was pretty and refreshing.
Verdict: who is Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch for?

If you want sushi but can't decide what to pick, try the premium sushi menu and round out the meal with some warm broth! On days you crave sushi in Jongno, or if you're searching around Jonggak Station or Gwanghwamun, add Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch to your list. 🍣 Enjoy a delicious meal today too 🍣
