The weather's so nice lately that I keep wanting to go out, and I felt like having a cocktail. I heard there's a trendy solo-drinking bar near Sangsu Station, so I went with a friend! It's a Hongdae hotspot called Woo Woo where going alone isn't awkward at all, and it's actually a great place to meet new people. Here's my visit, starting now!
Where is Woo Woo, the Hongdae solo bar near Sangsu Station?

Woo Woo is down the alley from Exit 1 of Sangsu Station. Keep walking and you'll spot the moody Woo Woo sign.

The lighting, the music and the whole vibe are just right for drinking solo. Perfect!

And as a proper bar, it had lots of whisky and other spirits! 🥂🍾

Is Woo Woo awkward if it's your first solo bar?
I got to Woo Woo around 8:30 pm on a weekday and lots of people were already enjoying themselves. The owner and staff greeted us so warmly that my nerves melted the moment I walked in!!

It was my first solo bar, so I was scared and brought a friend... 😹 But I don't think you'd need to feel awkward coming alone at all! Once you sit down, a staff member sometimes introduces you to people, and you can naturally mingle with the people next to you.
Amenities at Woo Woo: chargers, Wi-Fi and coat hangers
Woo Woo has phone chargers, coat hangers, free Wi-Fi and a restroom inside the bar. I didn't get a photo, but with chargers available you don't have to worry about your battery, and there's a hanger on one side for your coat plus free Wi-Fi. Little things, but I liked them!! The clean restroom inside the bar was super convenient too ◡̈

The complimentary snack: chicken drumsticks!!
Woo Woo's QR menu and self-introduction feature

Scan the QR code on the table and Woo Woo's house rules and menu come up!

A screen also pops up where you can introduce yourself: age group, gender, your goal for the night, TMI and so on! (You don't have to. It's optional!) You can even ask the owner to change your seat, and there are lots of notifications for expressing interest in someone you want to flirt with, which I found so fun ・໐・
There's a really wide range: cocktails, whisky, bourbon, champagne and more. There's also a non-alcoholic menu for people who don't drink, which I liked even more.

What does Woo Woo's signature cocktail taste like? (16,000 won)
We ordered two of Woo Woo's signature cocktail, the "Woo Woo cocktail"!

The signature cocktail is ₩16,000. It's luminous and pretty, the kind of look I think women would love 🍸

The sweetness of cranberry and cherry with just a slight kick of vodka made for a lovely taste!!

Is the atmosphere at Woo Woo in Hongdae wholesome?
Honestly, it was my first solo bar and I had no idea what the mood would be, so I came very worried. But the worry was totally unnecessary: Woo Woo was far more wholesome than I expected!?! There was no uncomfortable vibe at all and I could chat easily, which I loved ◡̈

There were lots of games on the tables, like flirting cards and balance games, but the thing that caught my eye was the guestbook notebook. People had written messages or just notes for the record, and it was fun to flip through, haha

Second round: Tequila Sunrise and Blue Hawaii (14,000 won each)
Travel, hobbies, stocks and more... after chatting for ages, we ordered one more cocktail each.

Tequila Sunrise (14,000 won)
Just like the name says, there's a beautiful sunrise in the glass! The clean taste of tequila blends with the sweet-tart orange juice and it was super smooth. The balance is great, so I think anyone would like it, no love-it-or-hate-it. The colors are so pretty it's perfect for photos! Even hardcore drinkers can enjoy it happily.

Blue Hawaii (14,000 won)
A refreshing blue that cools you down just by looking at it! The sweet, zesty pineapple aroma fills your mouth, and I'd recommend it to anyone who usually likes blue lemonade!

Complimentary cheese crackers
The cheese crackers came as a freebie, with honey drizzled over cream cheese, and dipping them was sweet and delicious ◜⤙◝ They're perfect with cocktails ♡
