Seoul Express Bus Terminal Korean BBQ at 4pm with chili sauce: Ugojip

In short

Ugojip is a Korean BBQ beef restaurant in the basement of Banpo Shopping Town Building 5, near Express Bus Terminal Station in Seocho, Seoul. Arriving around 4pm before the crowds, the writer ordered Ugojip's ₩49,000 couple set (woosamgyeop, galbisal, tosisal and chadol doenjang jjigae) with beer and a ₩7,000 mul naengmyeon, and found that the chili dipping sauce and side dishes paired especially well with the beef. With a good-value set and satisfying flavor, Ugojip is an Express Bus Terminal Korean BBQ spot worth recommending for anything from dates to group gatherings.

I went to Express Bus Terminal Station and wanted a hearty dinner, so I stopped by Ugojip (우고집), a beef restaurant in Banpo Shopping Town Building 5~

Where is Ugojip, and what are the hours and parking?

Ugojip is at 195 Sinbanpo-ro, Seocho-gu, Seoul, in the basement of Banpo Shopping Town Building 5, and it's open daily 15:00–23:00 (last order 22:00). Parking is available and free for 30 minutes, but I'd recommend the nearby public parking lots.

Come out of Exit 8-2 at Express Bus Terminal Station and it's just a short walk to Ugojip in Building 5 ~ It's right across the street from Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam, so it's perfect for walking off your meal while you browse.

Those in the know already know this, but Banpo Shopping Town hides a lot of great restaurants 😋

Is Ugojip quiet if you go at 4pm?

Ugojip is deep inside once you go down to the basement of Building 5. Worried about crowds, we deliberately came at an in-between time, around 4pm, but sure enough, customers started coming in pretty quickly while we ate.

Clean tables and atmosphere inside Ugojip

The place was clean with a nice atmosphere, and the staff were so friendly the moment we walked in that it put me in a good mood and made the food taste even better.

Ugojip has lots of good-value set menus, so I ordered the couple set first and decided to add more if it wasn't enough.

Ugojip side dishes and the chili dipping sauce

Side dishes like salad, scallion salad, myeongi namul (pickled wild greens) and kimchi came out right after we ordered, and every one of them went perfectly with beef.

This sauce especially is totally delicious. The slightly spicy chili cuts the greasiness, so the meat just disappears 👍

The salad vegetables were fresh, the scallion salad was so good, and every side felt thought out to go with the meat.

What's in Ugojip's ₩49,000 couple set?

Ugojip's couple set was ₩49,000 for woosamgyeop (thin-sliced beef brisket) + galbisal (rib meat) + tosisal (beef skirt) + brisket doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and it came out really generous.

  • Soft, rich woosamgyeop
  • Chewy yet tender galbisal
  • Tender tosisal with a deep beefy flavor

There were even onions, mushrooms and zucchini to grill, which I loved 😋 We greased the grill with a piece of fat, then started eating in earnest😋

Thin woosamgyeop with dipping sauce and a slice of chili

I started with the thin woosamgyeop, and it cooked so fast, which was great.

I dunked it deep in the sauce and put a chili on top, and it wasn't greasy at all and so good. Even dunked deep, it's not salty at all👍 The meat itself is great, but honestly the sauce makes you eat even more.

A beer was a must, so I ordered one. As always, perfect with meat ..👍

I kept alternating with the myeongi namul and the scallion salad too.

You know how amazing vegetables are when they're grilled in meat fat. Everything turns sweet and delicious.

Chadol doenjang jjigae (brisket soybean paste stew) in the set

The brisket doenjang jjigae arrived while we were eating, bubbling like crazy in a earthenware pot, and the pot was big with a lot of stew.

The stew was honestly .. so good. It wipes away any greasiness from the meat, a rich doenjang jjigae that makes it impossible not to order rice. It was packed with brisket and tofu, which I liked.

Galbisal (rib meat) and tosisal (hanger steak)

Next, the galbisal. I personally love galbisal, and it was chewy, clean-tasting and delicious. Again: sauce - myeongi namul - scallion salad, on repeat.

The tosisal was tender and tasty too, and even though I was full, this combo tastes like I could keep going.

Adding Ugojip's ₩7,000 mul naengmyeon

Ugojip's mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth) is ₩7,000. I was stuffed after cleaning out the doenjang jjigae, but when it's good, you want just a little more, right?

The icy broth was so refreshing, and wrapping meat in the noodles was a delicious combo too.

Is Ugojip worth it for Korean BBQ near Express Bus Terminal?

I was seriously full but still cleaned my plates. Afterward I was so stuffed that I browsed Shinsegae Department Store and walked all the way to the Han River to digest 😅

Good value, a hearty set, and flavor I was really happy with: that's Ugojip, a beef restaurant at Express Bus Terminal! If you visit the station, I recommend Ugojip for tasty beef at a good price, from dates to group gatherings ~ 👍
