Have a look at the guide to enjoying Boseung Hoegwan's gukbap (rice soup) deliciously—it might be helpful when you order, haha.
A menu from gukbap to drinking-table dishes

Boseung Hoegwan's gukbap menu included sundae-gukbap, suyuk-gukbap, hangjeong suyuk-gukbap, organ-meat gukbap, and pork-bone hangover soup. Seasonal choices included mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth), bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles), and pollock sashimi naengmyeon. Sides included pyeonyuk (pressed sliced pork), plated sundae, and seasoned boiled dumplings.
There were also snacks to go with a drink on the drinking-table menu. There was a wide variety of dishes perfect for drinking, including pork-bone gamjatang, sundae and beef-intestine hot pot, and assorted boiled pork.

You can order from the tablet kiosk once you are seated!
Ordering the pork jowl boiled pork set and sundae-guk set
- Pork jowl boiled pork set ₩18,000
- Sundae-guk set ₩16,000

Not long after ordering, everything was set out for us. The basic sides were cubed radish kimchi, kimchi, garlic chives, salted shrimp, salt, and sauce. If you need onions, chili peppers, or garlic, just ask a staff member and they will bring them over.

They told us we could eat the pork jowl and sundae as soon as they came to a bubbling boil!

Ta-da, the sundae-gukbap and pork jowl suyuk-gukbap were all here too!!

The taste of hot sundae-gukbap and pork jowl suyuk-gukbap
The sundae-gukbap was packed with everything from meat to sundae, while the pork jowl suyuk-gukbap had plenty of pork jowl! Both dadaegi (seasoned chili paste) and perilla seed powder came in the gukbap as standard, so although salted shrimp was provided, the seasoning was just right for my taste without adding anything. If you do not want the dadaegi or perilla seed powder, ask in advance and they will leave them out!
The appeal of the sundae-gukbap was, of course, its piping-hot broth. Tasting the broth first, it was savory with the flavor of the dadaegi seasoning and perilla seed powder, and a subtle umami lingered more and more as I ate, making me keep scooping up the soup. A spoonful of meat, rice, sundae, and broth all at once was pure hearty comfort!
The pork jowl suyuk-gukbap had such a great texture—pleasantly chewy yet tender, just like pork jowl should be. It was not dry at all when I bit into it, but moist and easy to chew, with the meat's nutty flavor gently coming through the more I chewed. It had a different appeal from boiled pork made only with lean meat; the just-right chew made it fun to eat, while it stayed soft in the mouth with a subtle meaty aroma, so I kept reaching for more.
Pork jowl and assorted sundae with garlic chives
Next came the pork jowl and assorted sundae. There was actually quite a lot of both the boiled pork and sundae for two people, so we ate until we were really full! The pork wrapped with the garlic chives served alongside it was especially delicious!
I loved being able to boil and eat the tender, chewy pork jowl and assorted sundae with its springy casing while they were warm. They never got cold, so we ate them warm right through to the end of the meal.

A warm and hearty meal
I tried the pork jowl boiled pork set and sundae-guk set at Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch, and I was satisfied because both meals were generously put together! Above all, having boiled pork and sundae alongside a bowl of gukbap made for a truly filling meal. Mixing rice into the warm broth, taking a piece of chewy pork jowl, and adding mild sundae gave every bite a different texture and flavor, so I enjoyed it right to the end~
The pork jowl especially stood out for its chewy-yet-tender texture and nutty flavor, while the gukbap was lovely for the satisfying feeling of having rice and toppings together in its hot, savory broth. If you are looking for a warm, substantial meal in Cheonho, I recommend Boseung Hoegwan Cheonho Station Branch as a great place to eat!
