In addition to buying at the store, I could receive them at home through a subscription. I also liked that a regular subscription seemed like a good-value way to buy them.

A wide selection of shell-code 1 and 2 eggs

There were so many kinds of eggs. The owner kindly guided me, so I was able to decide which eggs to choose.

I chose 10 Albon free-range eggs marked shell code 1 and 10 animal-welfare eggs marked shell code 2. I brought home 20 eggs in total, 10 each of codes 1 and 2.

Seeing photos of chickens raised in spacious areas made me feel good. I thought it would be nice if all chickens could grow up that way.

They took out the eggs, which had been kept fresh in a refrigerator.

As of the day I took the photos, the eggs had been laid just the previous day, so they were extremely fresh.

The eggs were large, so the 20 of them were quite heavy. The packaging was also very sturdy, and I was able to bring them home without breaking a single one.

The difference between shell-code 1 and 2 eggs

Shell-code 1 free-range eggs

Shell code 1 indicates free-range eggs. I had thought eggs with vivid orange yolks were fresher and better, but I learned that the color varies according to the feed. They are said to be fed only organic feed, giving them good immunity and much higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins D and E. Even before I cracked them, code 1 eggs looked slightly lighter, and their yolks were a lighter yellow.

Shell-code 2 eggs from animal-friendly rearing

Shell code 2 indicates eggs from an animal-friendly rearing environment. They are said to be characterized by deep orange yolks because the chickens are raised in animal-welfare conditions and fed 100% eco-friendly grain feed. The information said they have a pleasantly nutty flavor and can also be eaten by children sensitive to allergies or atopy.

There was a clear difference in yolk color, and both looked extremely fresh.

Trying shell-code 1 and 2 eggs fried

To taste the eggs fully, I decided to eat them fried.

Code 1 felt a little lighter. Rather than the characteristic egg smell, it had a nutty, clean taste.

Code 2 had a clearly visible deep orange color, and I was surprised by how springy the yolk was. As described, its nutty flavor spread through the mouth, so I think I personally enjoyed code 2 more. Still, I could clearly tell that both were extremely fresh, high-quality eggs.

Later, I also put code 2 over bibim-myeon (mixed noodles). The springy yolk was so delicious that I would recommend cooking the yolk less rather than fully cooking it. From the white to the yolk, it was wonderfully nutty.

Both the shell-code 1 and 2 eggs were very fresh, and I enjoyed them. Their much cleaner, nuttier flavor than ordinary eggs was pleasing, and I liked them even more thinking that they had been laid by chickens raised in good environments. I would recommend Fresh Farmer eggs to anyone looking for eggs with better nutritional qualities, truly fresh eggs, or a way to support animal welfare.
