In short

Eulji Darak Gangnam Station is a white-toned Western restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, a 3–5 minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 11. A wedding invitation meetup, where you get friends together after a long time before getting married, comes with a lot of worries. You're treating people you're grateful to, so the atmosphere, the food and the access all matter, and it's hard to compromise on any of them. I've hosted a few of these myself, so I can spot a good restaurant for one right away. Today, for anyone looking for a place to gather near Gangnam Station, I'm introducing a Western restaurant that works well for it: Eulji Darak Gangnam Station.

Where is Eulji Darak Gangnam Station, and when is it open?

When you make plans around Gangnam Station, access to public transport matters most! Eulji Darak Gangnam Station is a 3–5 minute walk from Exit 11 of Gangnam Station, where Subway Line 2 and the Shinbundang Line cross, so it's easy to visit even in bad weather, and it sits slightly off the busy main street. Friends coming from other areas can find it without getting lost, which is a big plus when choosing a meeting spot.

I've been to several Eulji Darak branches, but the food at the Gangnam branch is especially good and always tastes the same. I've never once been disappointed, so it's a restaurant I go to with confidence.

Eulji Darak Gangnam Station atmosphere: good for a wedding invitation meetup?

The restaurant has a white-toned interior with a marble-pattern floor and chandeliers, and the tables are arranged to suit anything from small groups to large gatherings. The clean, bright white interior is the first thing you notice when you walk in. Unique, moody lighting at every table, an elegant marble-pattern floor and a big, gorgeous chandelier add to the mood, making it feel both refined and comfortable.

The reason it's popular for group meetups is its seating layout and the pleasant feel of the space. The tables are arranged so it works for small gatherings, larger groups and casual company dinners alike. The space is calm enough to focus on conversation, so unlike a noisy BBQ place or a typical pub, it's a good setting to catch up quietly over a wedding invitation meal in Gangnam.

What our group ordered that day was Eulji Darak's signature bestseller, the Darak omurice (omelet rice), plus the chop pork neck steak and a katsu sando (fried cutlet sandwich) to make the meal more filling.

Darak omurice: a soft omelet sliced open by staff

Darak omurice is Eulji Darak's signature dish, where a staff member cuts the omelet open at your table and spreads the soft-cooked egg over the fried rice. It was the first dish on the table, and it grabbed our attention the moment it arrived. Looks matter at a wedding invitation meetup, and this one really catches the eye!

When the staff member glides a knife through the middle of the omelet, the fluffy, soft-cooked egg spills out to both sides and wraps the fried rice, like a little performance. The plump yellow omelet sitting on the deep brown house-made omurice sauce made my mouth water just looking at it.

Take a big spoonful and you get the fluffy, varied texture of European-style fried rice together with a Japanese-style omelet that melts in your mouth. The combination is superb. It's the addictive kind of taste that you find yourself thinking about after trying it once.

Add Darak's special house-made sauce, bursting with savory depth, and the flavor is rich without being salty or harsh. The nutty egg and the mildly sweet sauce are so well balanced that I couldn't put the spoon down until the bowl was empty.

Plated chop pork neck steak at Eulji Darak Gangnam Station

Chop pork neck steak: pre-sliced meat that's easy for group meals

The chop pork neck steak at Eulji Darak Gangnam Station is grilled pork neck cut into bite-size pieces and served with grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes. The next dish, the chop pork neck steak, is perfect for a special gathering where meat is a must. Its elegant plating stands out: premium grilled pork neck cut into bite-size pieces, with colorful grilled vegetables and plenty of creamy mashed potatoes alongside.

The pork neck was grilled perfectly, golden outside and full of juice inside, and the more I chewed, the more the clean, savory flavor came through. Even though this cut can turn dry, it was tender with its characteristic texture, and the finely grated cheese sprinkled on top like snowflakes lifted the salty, nutty flavor even more.

The grilled vegetables are excellent too. Cherry tomatoes, broccoli, bell peppers, zucchini, eggplant and more come out with a smoky char and their natural sweetness at its peak, which goes really well with the meat.

Especially when you dip a thick piece of pork neck into the ultra-smooth mashed potatoes filling one side of the plate, the nuttiness of the potato and the chew of the meat come together happily in your mouth.

Whole-grain mustard and fresh wasabi come with it too, so you can enjoy all sorts of flavor variations to your taste. Best of all, because it's a chop steak, you can eat without the hassle of cutting, which is really handy at a wedding invitation meetup in Gangnam.

Katsu sando: the dish where the Gangnam branch beat the others

The katsu sando at Eulji Darak Gangnam Station is a Japanese-style sandwich with a thick whole loin cutlet (ros katsu, pork loin) between slices of bread, and it's the dish where I felt the Gangnam branch was clearly better than the other branches. The katsu sando that filled out the table at the end has juicy loin cutlet inside moist, soft bread.

The bread is fluffy the moment you bite in, and the cutlet inside bursts with meat juice along with its crispy fried coating. The loin was a premium cut, so even the texture stood out, and despite the thickness the meat was so tender that biting through it was no trouble.

Add the fresh pickles and cherry tomatoes served alongside, plus plenty of the sweet, tangy house-made tartar sauce, and it cuts the heaviness of fried meat perfectly for a great balance. This katsu sando in particular was noticeably better at the Gangnam branch than at the others.
