Date-night Korean BBQ in Hongdae, grilled to your liking: Gogikkun
In short
Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch (고기꾼 김춘배 홍대숲길점) is a Korean BBQ restaurant beside the Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Mapo, Seoul, where staff grill hanwoo (Korean beef) and handon (Korean pork) at your table. On a Hongdae date, the writer had the hanwoo and handon set for 2, plus kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) fried rice and half-and-half naengmyeon (cold noodles), and found that telling staff your preferred doneness when the first meat goes on gets everything grilled your way. For a Hongdae date where you want to focus on conversation, Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch is a great fit.

Looking for a Hongdae restaurant with both a nice view and great food? You want meat, but you'd rather not be so busy grilling that you can't talk. A place where you can relax and chat is much better, right?

I recently went to Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch (고기꾼 김춘배 홍대숲길점)! The forest view is so fresh, the staff grill the beef and pork just right, and the meal menu is great too, so I really want to recommend it!
Where is Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch, and how late is it open?

Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch is at 31-2 Seogang-ro 13-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, right beside Gyeongui Line Forest Park. From Exit 6 of Hongik Univ. Station, just follow the forest path. You can also walk from Seogangdae Station.

It's open every day from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., with last order at 10 p.m. There's no break time, so you can visit whenever you like!

It's near a forest path that's lovely for strolling rather than in the middle of the busy Hongdae main street, which makes it easy to plan your route before and after the meal.

You can head straight to a café after eating or stroll slowly along Gyeongui Line Forest Park, so it works well as part of a Hongdae date course. And the forest view while you eat is so refreshing.
Can't choose between hanwoo and handon? Get the set for 2

The menu here is quite varied! If you can't decide between hanwoo (Korean beef) and handon (Korean pork), I recommend the set for 2, which lets you enjoy both!

Rather than eating just one kind the whole time, you can compare how the texture and aroma change from cut to cut, which made the meal feel richer.

The pork was nutty and chewy, while the beef was tender and juicy. Even on the same grill, they felt completely different.

With such a variety of meat and staff doing the grilling, everyone in your group can just sit back and eat. It's a Hongdae spot I'd happily recommend.

The meat looked super clean, too. Each piece is grilled so you can eat it at its tastiest moment, so I could really enjoy the ingredients!
What's nice about having staff grill for you?
At Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch, staff grill the quality pork and beef at your table! One thing I care about at a Korean BBQ place is who does the grilling. It's a shame when the griller can't really join the conversation, or misses the timing and the pricey meat turns tough.

Staff actually watched the meat at the table and cut it into bite-size pieces, so we could chat and eat comfortably.

Beef especially changes a lot in taste depending on doneness, and I loved that I got it nicely moist. Since I didn't have to grill, I didn't need to keep worrying about timing, which suited a Hongdae date where you want to focus on talking.

📍TIP: Say how you like it done when the first meat goes on
If you have a preferred doneness, it's best to say so when the first meat goes on the grill! If you tell them your taste, like beef a little rarer or pork with crispy edges, they grill it more to your liking!
Finish with kkakdugi fried rice and half-and-half naengmyeon

That day I tried the half-and-half naengmyeon (cold noodles) and the kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) fried rice as meal menu items. Great meat alone is satisfying, but a Korean BBQ place stays in your memory when the final dish is good too! This Hongdae spot does its sides well, too!

The kkakdugi fried rice comes already cooked, and you can warm it a bit longer on the grill to make it crispier. It's packed with meat as well as kkakdugi, so the savory depth is spot on. Even though I was full, I kept reaching for it, and scraping up the crusty bits nearly made me burst!

The half-and-half naengmyeon is perfect for people like me who can't choose between mulnaengmyeon (cold broth noodles) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed noodles). You get the cool, clean flavor and the spicy one together, so it goes well while eating meat!

Who I'd recommend Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch to
To sum up, Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch lets you have hanwoo and handon in one sitting, and with staff grilling for you, it's a comfortable place to eat. I especially recommend it to these people.
- ✅ Anyone looking for a Hongdae restaurant near Gyeongui Line Forest Park
- ✅ Anyone who wants beef and pork together
- ✅ Anyone who wants to eat comfortably without grilling themselves
If you're planning a Hongdae date, try combining a walk along Gyeongui Line Forest Park and a café with it. And when you go to a Korean BBQ place, do you finish with fried rice or naengmyeon?
