Dongdaemun burger restaurant with skillet cheese: 1986 Shibuya Burger
In short
1986 Shibuya Burger is a handmade burger restaurant near Kyung Hee University in Dongdaemun, Seoul. I ordered the Skillet Stretchy Cheese Burger and Golden Hash Burger as sets, with sweet potato fries and a mozzarella cheese bar. The generous cheese and hash brown stood out, and the meal was filling with the self-serve potato chips.

Where is 1986 Shibuya Burger, and is parking available?
I visited 1986 Shibuya Burger near Kyung Hee University. Its address is 5 Kyunghee-daero 1ga-gil, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, South Korea. The original post listed its hours as daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and parking is not available.
What is the atmosphere like?
Pokémon characters were the first things that caught my eye inside. There were Dragonite and Snorlax, and the otherwise neat space had plenty of Japanese animation decorations.

There was also an area recreating the scenery of Shibuya Station. It reminded me of what I saw when I visited Shibuya before.

What is at the self-serve bar?
The self-serve bar in front of the kiosk had various sauces, water, pickles, jalapeños, and potato chips. I could take as much sauce and as many jalapeños as I wanted.

What I especially liked at the self-serve bar was the potato chips. They were crisp and savory, making them nice to pick at between bites of burger. I tried ketchup, garlic sauce, truffle sauce, and cheese sauce.

At the time of my visit, there was also a notice for an event offering capsule coffee for writing a Naver receipt review.

Which burgers and sides did I order?
The Golden Hash Burger, Jambon Wagyu Burger, and Chipotle Jambon Burger were presented as popular menu items. I chose the Golden Hash Burger, listed as the restaurant's No. 1 popular item, and the Skillet Stretchy Cheese Burger, which I wanted to try.

For the Shibuya Skillet Stretchy Cheese Burger set, I chose sweet potato fries, and I added a whole mozzarella cheese bar to the Shibuya Golden Hash Burger set.

How did the Skillet Stretchy Cheese Burger and Golden Hash Burger differ?
What did the cheese on the Skillet Stretchy Cheese Burger taste like?
The Shibuya Skillet Stretchy Cheese Burger was distinctive for arriving with a generous amount of cheese in a skillet. It was presented as a new menu item at the time of my visit, and the onions on top also stood out. Rather than salty, the cheese tasted sweet and nutty, and it went well with the burger.

There was so much cheese that I ate it not only with the burger but also with the sweet potato fries and potato chips from the self-serve bar. Both went well with it, so as someone who likes cheese, this is a menu item I would like to have again.

What was good about the Golden Hash Burger?
The Shibuya Golden Hash Burger was nutty, with a soft patty and a hash brown. Although it was a familiar burger combination, I was satisfied with the flavor and understood why it was described as a popular item.

Is it filling as a meal with the sides?
The sweet potato fries tasted good and came in a generous portion. The whole mozzarella cheese bar was filled with cheese. With the leftover cheese from the skillet burger, I was able to enjoy plenty of cheese.

After having the sets and sides, I felt comfortably full. Personally, the price did not feel burdensome. I would like to return when having lunch near Kyung Hee University or wanting a burger during a date.
