I wanted a proper meal in a nice atmosphere on the weekend, so I went to Sindong Lab Hwaseong Bongdam Branch (신동랩 화성봉담점), which is the hot place in Bongdam right now 😊 Conclusion first: 👉 "Satisfying in taste, atmosphere and service" 👉 a place where you start thinking about coming back after a single visit.

Can you go to Sindong Lab Hwaseong Bongdam Branch on a weekend without a reservation?
On weekends the restaurant is almost full right after it opens at 11:00, so I recommend a Naver reservation (Korea's main booking app). This time I booked 11:30 through Naver, and since weekends get crowded, it was a really good call 👍
When we arrived, the place was already almost full… 😳 👉 Seeing it this packed right after opening, I really felt how popular it is.
The best part! ✔️ We were only 3 people, but 👉 they prepared a roomy 6-seat table for us 👉 and we got in with no wait. 👉 That's a really thoughtful touch. 👉 If you're going on a weekend, I definitely recommend booking on Naver!

Exterior and interior atmosphere of Sindong Lab Hwaseong Bongdam Branch
The restaurant is easy to find thanks to the big sign of its mascot, "Ddaenggeuli" (땡글이), at the entrance. 👉 You can see it from far away, so first-time visitors can find it easily 😊

The outside feels clean and stylish.

- Since it was summer, the folding doors were wide open
- A cool breeze came in naturally
- Even indoors, it felt open like being outside
👉 We could eat in real comfort without feeling stuffy. 👉 It's great for a date, and 👉 the mood is easy for kids too, so I'd recommend it for a family meal out 👨👩👧

Where to park at Sindong Lab Hwaseong Bongdam Branch
Sindong Lab has a large parking lot, but with the restaurant full on a weekend, the lot was full too. There's a public parking lot (free for 1 hour 30 minutes) a 1-minute walk away, so we parked there and walked over.
Once you step inside, the atmosphere really comes alive.
- Warm wood-tone interior
- Neat, stylish layout
- Cute little dolls displayed here and there
👉 Thanks to these details, the space felt even cozier and more comfortable 🧸
Tangy tea and cream stew before the meal
Sindong Lab serves a tangy tea and a cream stew before the meal. Honestly I wasn't expecting much… 👉 but after the first bite I was impressed right away 😳

- Tangy tea: fresh and refreshing, it cleanses the palate and really whets your appetite
- Cream stew: soft, warm texture with a subtle nutty richness and creaminess
The cream stew goes down easily and raises your expectations for the main dishes.

What 3 people ordered and the prices (₩80,200 total)
The three of us ordered the sukiyaki set, the double gyukatsu (beef cutlet) 250g with ricotta cheese salad, and mazesoba (brothless mixed noodles), for ₩80,200 in total.
- Sukiyaki set (₩14,900)
- Double gyukatsu 250g + ricotta cheese salad ×2 (₩53,800)
- Mazesoba (₩11,500)
👉 All the popular menu items are gathered in one place, so it was great for trying a variety.

Sukiyaki set (tenderness at its peak)
Sindong Lab's sukiyaki set is ₩14,900: thin slices of beef cooked in a sweet soy-based broth and dipped in egg yolk. As it bubbles up, 👉 that sweet soy-based aroma… the moment you smell it, it's already game over 🤤

Lightly cook the thin beef and dip it in the yolk: ✔️ it melts in your mouth ✔️ sweet broth + rich egg ✔️ deep savory flavor 👉 these three come together perfectly for a really soft, premium taste.

The vegetables were fresh too, 👉 with a crunch that held up, 👉 and the broth was so addictive I kept spooning it up 👉 hearty but never boring.
Double gyukatsu 250g + ricotta cheese salad
Sindong Lab's double gyukatsu 250g is beef cutlet, crispy outside and juicy inside, that you grill yourself on a stone plate. The look alone makes you gasp 🔥 👉 it nails both the fun of eating and the fun of watching.

One bite gives you ✔️ crispy batter ✔️ meat that bursts with juice ✔️ richness filling your mouth 👉 truly the textbook "crispy outside, juicy inside" (겉바속촉).

🥗 The ricotta cheese salad has ✔️ soft, creamy cheese ✔️ fresh vegetables ✔️ a tangy dressing 👉 it cuts the richness of the gyukatsu perfectly, so the combination was great.
Mazesoba (the most addictive dish)
Sindong Lab's mazesoba is ₩11,500: you pop the egg yolk and mix it through the ingredients. The moment you pop the yolk and mix everything together…

👉 a rich, nutty aroma rises up. One bite gives you ✔️ chewy noodles ✔️ thick, rich meat sauce ✔️ harmony of seaweed, vegetables and meat 👉 the flavor keeps changing as you chew. 👉 And the most important point: "the more you eat, the more you want" 👉 one bowl vanished in no time 😆
Ice cream dessert served after the meal
Sindong Lab Hwaseong Bongdam Branch serves ice cream as dessert after the meal. 👉 It's just right for a clean finish 👉 and we ended the meal feeling satisfied to the very end 😊
