Out-of-season strawberry peach cake for a sister's birthday: Chef Cho
Chef Cho Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam is a fruit cream cake shop inside Sweet Park, on the basement level of Shinsegae Department Store's Gangnam branch in Seocho, Seoul. For a younger sister's birthday, the writer bought the Peach Berry No.1 cake for 53,000 won, and while the 100% dairy whipped cream and moist sponge were excellent, the strawberries fell a little short on sweetness since it wasn't strawberry season, though the crisp "ddakbok" peaches paired beautifully with the cream. The tip for next time: pick whichever fruit is actually in season when choosing a whole cake here.
