Is Veteran General Fish Market close to Yeonsu Station, and is there parking?

It's been a while since I had sashimi, so I headed to Veteran General Fish Market 🤭 I'd been to the Guwol-dong branch before and enjoyed it ✨ This Yeonsu branch was my first time, so I was curious what would be different 😂

The Yeonsu branch is right in front of Yeonsu Station, under a 5-minute walk, and they say parking is covered for up to 4 hours 🚘
Is the dining room good for work dinners and family gatherings?

Inside, the place is quite large, clean overall, and the tables are spaced nicely 🤭 It doesn't feel cramped or chaotic, so it feels right for a family gathering or a company dinner ❗️

The chefs' workroom is visible too, so you can watch the food being prepared cleanly 🤣
What's at the self bar? Ramyeon noodles, kimchi pancake and dessert

The self bar is near the entrance, with cabbage salad, wrap greens, corn salad, garlic and more, all refilled right away when they run low 😉

The ramyeon noodles are unlimited, and when I ordered the stew later and boiled them in it, they soaked up the seasoning and were sooo delicious 🥺

But the real reason I went to the self bar was the kimchi pancake! You can fry it yourself 🤓

There's even coffee and ice cream for dessert, so you go home totally stuffed 😂
How much is the mixed sashimi platter for two?

The mixed sashimi for two at Veteran General Fish Market Yeonsu Branch is ₩38,000, which is pretty cheap! Good value, and every table has a kiosk for ordering.
I ordered the mixed sashimi for two and the seodeori-tang.
How were the side dishes and the mixed sashimi for two?

Once you sit down, the side dishes come out first: seaweed soup, aged kimchi, quail eggs, and the kimchi pancake I made myself 🙆🏻♀️ I kept snacking on those until the sashimi arrived.
The mixed sashimi for two comes out more generous than expected 😇 It's red sea bream, flounder, rockfish, salmon and a seasonal fish, brought in daily from Yeonan Pier, and the color was gorgeous ❗️

The weather has turned chilly, so I immediately craved sashimi, and it's fun to taste a bit of everything 🤣 Overall it was chewy with a springy bite, and tasted rich and nutty ❤️

What is sashimi like topped with aged kimchi?
You all know aged kimchi (mukeunji) and sashimi are a great combo, right? 🥺 The kimchi's tang wipes away the richness of the fish ⭐️
The salmon is soft and nutty 😉 I'd been craving salmon lately, and it was one of those "how did I forget this taste?" moments ✨
Is the seodeori-tang (fish-bone stew) enough for two to share?

When the sashimi was almost gone, I ordered the seodeori-tang (stew made from fish bones and trimmings). It was my first time, and I ordered without even knowing what seodeori was, but it's a "one serving that's really two," so it was easy for two of us to share 💖

Often it's nothing but bones, but the stew here had a surprising amount of meat on it and went well with rice 🤓 I wondered whether the self-bar ramyeon noodles would work with it, but they soaked up the seasoning and finished the meal with a cool, refreshing broth. Great stuff 😂 Well fed again today!
Verdict: is Veteran General Fish Market Yeonsu Branch worth it?
It was great for enjoying several kinds of chewy sashimi at once, and the roomy space makes it a recommended pick for company dinners or family gatherings! Parking is available and it's near Yeonsu Station, so it's easy to reach too 🤣
