My wife and I hadn't had sushi in a while, so we visited Mikado Sushi Chungnam Seosan Branch (미카도스시 충남서산점), a new conveyor belt sushi spot in Seosan.

If you're looking for fresh, tasty conveyor belt sushi in Seosan, Mikado Sushi feels like just the place!

Mikado Sushi Seosan hours and parking

Mikado Sushi Chungnam Seosan Branch is open from 11:30 to 21:20, with a break from 15:00 to 16:00. There's a large parking lot in front, so it's easy to get there by car.

One of Mikado Sushi's biggest strengths is that big parking lot. If you drive, parking is easy, so access was great.

Mikado Sushi Seosan waiting times and reservations

Mikado Sushi Seosan often has a wait at dinner time, so I recommend booking ahead on the Catchtable app. If you reserve, you can walk straight in without waiting.

We arrived a bit early, so there was no wait, but it seems waits often build up in the evening. Being able to reserve in advance with the Catchtable app and go straight in was really convenient. If you're visiting at a busy time, definitely book ahead!

Inside Mikado Sushi

The inside of Mikado Sushi Seosan is neat and tidy with an open kitchen, and there are also group seats, so it works for a bigger party. You can watch the chefs make sushi right in front of you.

The moment we walked in, the clean, orderly atmosphere put me in a good mood. There are group seats too, so it seems fine for coming with a crowd. Like other conveyor belt sushi places, it has an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs make sushi from fresh ingredients right in front of you. It was packed, and they were moving super, super fast! All the different sushi plates passing by on the belt made my mouth water. We sat down and started eating right away!!

How ordering works at Mikado Sushi

At Mikado Sushi you can grab sushi straight off the belt, or write the menu item and your table number on the memo pad at the table and hand it to staff, and they'll make it fresh. When you sit down, staff bring a soup and give you a quick explanation of how it all works.

Once we sat down, a staff member brought us jangguk (clear broth soup) and gave us a quick explanation of how to use the restaurant. This soup makes you able to eat endless sushi, hehe.

You can pick the sushi you want from the belt, or write the sushi you want and your table number on the memo pad on the table and pass it to a staff member, who makes it for you right away.

Don't like seafood? Mikado Sushi's meat sushi

Mikado Sushi has meat sushi like beef belly with myeongina (wild garlic-like greens) sushi and beef belly with aged kimchi sushi, so even people who don't like seafood can enjoy it. It's made to order, so it comes out warm with a nice torched flavor.

There were so many kinds of sushi, but as a meat lover, the beef belly with myeongina sushi and beef belly with aged kimchi sushi really caught my eye. They're made the moment you order, so you eat them warm with that torched flavor, and they were genuinely delicious. Conveyor belt sushi can put off people who don't like seafood, but Mikado is actually great for meat sushi, so even if you dislike seafood you can enjoy it fully!

From bluefin tuna belly to fried squid legs: the dishes we loved

The standouts at Mikado Sushi were the bluefin tuna belly sushi, flying fish roe gunkan (seaweed-wrapped sushi), fried squid legs and aged kimchi fresh fish sushi. Since the chefs make the sushi on the spot, you can really taste the freshness.

Ahh... writing this blog post makes me want to go again... Maybe because the chefs make it right then, the sushi was clearly fresh and delicious. The flavor of the fresh bluefin tuna belly sushi filling my mouth was truly top-notch. It melts in your mouth, it melts~

The flying fish roe gunkan sushi was good too, with the fresh roe's texture really coming through. The popping texture is fun!

When I started getting tired of sushi, I ordered the fried squid legs as a side! Crispy outside and chewy inside, they'd go so well with a highball! I really regret not being able to drink because I had to drive..

The aged kimchi fresh fish sushi is great to eat in the middle of all that gobbling! The combo of crunchy aged kimchi and fresh fish resets your palate, haha.

The downside: lukewarm watermelon

We finished neatly with watermelon! It was tasty, but it was lukewarm, which was a little disappointing.. And after the watermelon, I felt like I could eat even more... hehe.

Mikado Sushi prices: our verdict after 35 plates for two

Sushi at Mikado Sushi Seosan is ₩2,100 a plate, and the two of us ate 35 plates in total. With sushi made right when you order and generous portions, the value for the price was very high.

The two of us cleared 35 plates in total!! We got to try lots of different sushi, the portions were generous, and it's made on the spot for just ₩2,100 a plate, so the value for the price was very high. Overall, it was a place where you can enjoy fresh, tasty sushi at a reasonable price. I was also happy with the clean atmosphere and the convenient ordering system. If the sushi craving comes back, I definitely want to return! Highly recommended!!
