Hapjeong Korean BBQ revisit: cheesy kimchi fried rice, Jeongyukdo
In short
Jeongyukdo is a Korean BBQ restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building on Yanghwa-ro in Mapo, Seoul, a 2-minute walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 5. On a second visit, the writer ordered the 49,000-won pork set (fresh pork ribs, pork neck and pork belly) with 8,000-won kimchi fried rice, 4,000-won steamed egg and 3,200-won Hanmaek draft beer. The meat quality at Jeongyukdo is good, but the kimchi fried rice topped with egg and cheese was the real standout, making Jeongyukdo worth recommending for a date or group meal.

Today I'm writing up Jeongyukdo, a Korean BBQ spot near Hapjeong Station that's great for dates! I visited once before and had such a satisfying meal haha that it stuck with me, so I came back again! The meat quality is great and the side dishes are super generous and delicious — definitely a place I recommend.

Location, hours, and parking for Jeongyukdo near Hapjeong Station
Jeongyukdo is about a 2-minute walk from Exit 5 of Hapjeong Station. Hours are Mon–Sat 11:30–23:00 (last order 21:30) and Sun 11:30–22:00 (last order 20:30).
For parking, it's paid parking — they said you can just search 'Jeongyukdo' to find your way there.

Inside Jeongyukdo: room-like separated spaces
The interior is clean and has an upscale feel, and there are also room-like separated spaces available. So this place is great for dates, staff dinners, and all kinds of gatherings.

The menu and what we ordered at Jeongyukdo
Here's the menu. Jeongyukdo has both hanwoo (Korean beef) and pork set menus, plus various add-on dishes and drinks. There are also lunch specials — hanwoo ugeoji gukbap (beef and dried radish green soup), galbitang (short rib soup), yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef mixed rice) with doenjang stew, spicy galbijjim (braised short ribs), and more! I'll have to come back for the lunch special sometime... that spicy galbijjim looks amazing ㅠ.ㅠ
We ordered like this:
- Pork set ₩49,000 (raw galbi, kkotmoksal, pork belly / choice of myeoljeot or doenjang stew)
- Kimchi fried rice ₩8,000
- Steamed egg ₩4,000

The neatly arranged side dishes and pickled onion, pickled scallion, pink salt, wholegrain mustard, wasabi, plus a cold Hanmaek draft beer! Hanmaek draft was ₩3,200.

The ₩49,000 pork set, starting with raw galbi
The ₩49,000 pork set comes with raw galbi (short rib cut), kkotmoksal (pork collar), and pork belly, and they grilled the raw galbi first. We chose doenjang stew as the side dish included with the set!

The fluffy, perfectly seasoned steamed egg and the doenjang stew loaded with beef. Jeongyukdo, this Hapjeong BBQ spot, has great meat but the sides are just as good! It's a place where you really can't go wrong with anything.

The raw galbi tastes even better grilled over charcoal! The outside gets golden brown with a subtle smoky char that makes it even more delicious ㅠ.ㅠ Clean yet savory! The inside stayed juicy and paired well with any of the three sauces.

Right as we were tearing into the raw galbi, they put the kkotmoksal and pork belly on so the flow never breaks! haha

A must-order side at Jeongyukdo: ₩8,000 kimchi fried rice
And now let me recommend the side dish you absolutely must order when you come to Jeongyukdo. It's the kimchi fried rice (₩8,000). Does anyone remember the kimchi fried rice from that old bar chain Kodachaya? It has that kind of vibe ㅠ.ㅠ

The combination of egg, cheese, and kimchi fried rice is insanely good. And somehow the kimchi fried rice itself isn't too intense — it's clean and mild. That's what makes it even better ㅠㅠㅠㅠ
Honestly, since they use good quality ingredients for both the hanwoo and the pork, everything is delicious no matter what you order! So just get whatever you like. But the kimchi fried rice — please, please add it on. Hehe

How were the kkotmoksal and pork belly?
Jeongyukdo grills the kkotmoksal and pork belly perfectly too. Writing this post while hungry and looking at these photos makes me want to go back again... The meat quality is great, seriously delicious.

The kkotmoksal was grilled thick, so it was juicy and got tastier the more you chewed! The pork belly had the perfect balance of fat and lean meat. Enjoying it alongside all the varied side dishes made for an even richer, more delicious dinner! The staff are friendly every time I come, which makes for a pleasant visit.
Jeongyukdo, this date-friendly Korean BBQ spot near Hapjeong Station, has room-like separated spaces, so I recommend it for group dinners, staff gatherings, dates, and all kinds of get-togethers. Hehe
