Nowon sushi buffet for family gatherings: soy-marinated crab, Kuu Kuu

Today I'm writing a review of Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch (쿠우쿠우 노원점), a sushi buffet that does it well, and one of my picks for family gatherings in Nowon! It's spacious, comfortable and cleanly run, and besides the fresh, tasty sushi there's a noodle corner, pizza and lots more, so I recommend it for eating out.

Kuu Kuu Nowon hours, directions and parking

Kuu Kuu Nowon is open Mon-Fri 11:00-21:30 and Sat, Sun and holidays 11:00-22:00. Buffet food ends at 21:00 and last order is 20:30. It's a 12-minute walk from Hagye Station Exit 2, or take one bus and get off at the Seoul Oncheon stop, which is close!

I heard parking may not go smoothly on weekends because of all the Seoul Oncheon visitors, so keep that in mind!

Kuu Kuu Nowon prices and time limit

Prices are ₩27,900 for weekday lunch, ₩31,900 for weekday dinner, ₩35,900 on weekends and holidays, and ₩9,900 for preschoolers. The etiquette time limit is 90 minutes, and if there's a wait, it's limited to 1 hour 30 minutes.

Group seating for Nowon family gatherings and company dinners: how many people?

Kuu Kuu Nowon is over 300 pyeong, with rooms for 40 to 60 people and group seating for 14 up to 200. The natural wood interior you see as soon as you walk in feels bright and relaxing, haha. And it's huge! You could hold a company dinner here as if you'd rented out a whole sushi buffet!

At Kuu Kuu Nowon you can get unlimited draft beer for an extra ₩5,900! It's real Terra and Kelly, not a Filite-type substitute. And if you write a review for the event, the unlimited draft beer is free. Wow~

What's on the menu besides sushi?

Kuu Kuu Nowon is a sushi buffet, but there's a really wide range, from tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and LA galbi (marinated short ribs) to mukeunji dakdoritang (aged-kimchi braised chicken) and Chinese dishes.

Made-to-order corner: jajang, jjamppong, udon, cold soba

The made-to-order menu has jajang (black bean noodles), jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), udon and naengmemil (cold buckwheat noodles), and the miso soup comes from a machine. I tried the jjamppong, and the broth was spicy and really good! It goes well with sushi too >.<

New menu: smoked duck and lamb chops

Smoked duck and lamb chops just launched as new items! Chewy in texture and clean and mild in flavor, they're available on weekday dinners and holidays. The lamb chops are full of that distinctive flavor and tender. The lamb chops are available all day!

What changed with the sushi at Kuu Kuu Nowon?

Kuu Kuu Nowon has everything from sushi to rolls to gunkan (seaweed-wrapped sushi). If you came to a sushi buffet, you've got to enjoy the sushi! I'm a shrimp lover, and there were lots of shrimp options! The shrimp sushi in particular now uses peony shrimp (mokdan-saeu), which they say upgraded the flavor.

They also made the flatfish and salmon pieces bigger than before, so you get a mouthful of fish. And big news~! Norwegian raw salmon sashimi, which even Kuu Kuu's Gold branch doesn't have, now comes on weekday dinners, weekends and holidays. Hurry and visit Kuu Kuu, a great Nowon spot for family gatherings!

There are so many varied and tasty dishes that even taking just one of each fills you up! So you take a little of everything, then go back for more of whatever you liked. Haha.

Drinks and bead ice cream: can you have it at lunch?

Kuu Kuu Nowon also has premium herbal teas, slush juice and cereal! Best of all, the bead ice cream, which used to be available only on weekday dinners and weekends, is now available at lunch too.

When I was little, this was fancy ice cream you could only buy at an amusement park or a highway rest stop, you know? Ha; Getting unlimited bead ice cream that kids love is great! I think it'll be especially popular during school vacation.

The plates I actually ate at Kuu Kuu Nowon

Now that the long menu tour is over, let me show you the plates I ate~ haha. First, a fresh, tangy salad to head off a blood sugar spike, and then straight into the sushi lol. I brought back flatfish, tuna, lemon shrimp, cheese shrimp, cuttlefish and salmon!

The lamb chops!! The tender meat is sprinkled with cumin (zira), and the taste was addictive. The steamed crab was good too, and you know that soy-marinated crab with flying fish roe on top is twice as delicious, right? Haha.

The steamed crab is back again lol. I guess it was good. The shrimp topped with egg and the lemon shrimp were so so delicious that I got them twice.

Dessert: bead ice cream, affogato, chocolate fondue

Dessert time~ bead ice cream, espresso, crepe cake and doughnut is a great combo, yum yum, food nerd approved.

Round two of bead ice cream lol. Then Kuu Kuu's classic apple waffle with gelato scooped on to make affogato. I ate so thoroughly. I finished by coating marshmallows in the chocolate fondue.. ha.
