Suncheon pork BBQ finished with pollack roe rice: Goban Sikdang

Goban Sikdang Suncheon Jorye Branch is a pork BBQ restaurant in the Jorye-dong dining alley of Suncheon, where staff grill the meat at your table. On a weekday evening for two, the order was the Geunbon Assorted Platter at 59,000 won plus Myeongin Pollack Roe Rice, hangover ramyeon and a bottle of Goma Grazie wine-soju, with the pork belly eaten plain with salt and the pork neck with garlic sauce. Goban Sikdang is the kind of Suncheon BBQ spot where you hand over the tongs and just talk and eat.

Ganghwa duck restaurant in Gilsang-myeon with tableside grilling

Deok Ori Jumulleok Ganghwa Main Branch is a duck specialty restaurant on Manisan-ro in Gilsang-myeon, Ganghwa, Incheon, about 5 minutes by car from Jeondeungsa Temple. On a weekday lunch visit the table shared duck jumulleok for two at 20,000 won, a potato pancake at 12,000 won, and fried rice with cheese added; the duck arrived pre-grilled and the owner finished it at the table, so it was ready to eat right away. The sweet-spicy sauce and the cheese fried rice made Deok Ori Jumulleok an easy lunch stop on a Ganghwa Island trip.
