Suncheon pork BBQ finished with pollack roe rice: Goban Sikdang
In short
Goban Sikdang Suncheon Jorye Branch is a pork BBQ restaurant in the Jorye-dong dining alley of Suncheon, where staff grill the meat at your table. On a weekday evening for two, the order was the Geunbon Assorted Platter at 59,000 won plus Myeongin Pollack Roe Rice, hangover ramyeon and a bottle of Goma Grazie wine-soju, with the pork belly eaten plain with salt and the pork neck with garlic sauce. Goban Sikdang is the kind of Suncheon BBQ spot where you hand over the tongs and just talk and eat.

Goban Sikdang Suncheon Jorye Branch / A recommended Suncheon, Jeollanam-do restaurant — an affordable staff-grilled pork spot in Jorye-dong

Today I want to introduce a pork BBQ restaurant worth checking out in the Jorye-dong area of Suncheon. Staff grill the meat for you, so you can eat comfortably, and the overall lineup — from pork belly and pork neck to pollack roe rice and hangover ramyeon — was substantial enough to be really satisfying. This is Goban Sikdang Suncheon Jorye Branch, a Suncheon restaurant that also has a great range of sauces and sides to enjoy the meat in different ways.
Where is Goban Sikdang Suncheon Jorye Branch, and is there parking?
Goban Sikdang Suncheon Jorye Branch sits inside the Jorye-dong dining alley in Suncheon. If you head toward the area across from Samsung Digital Plaza, it's fairly easy to find. I visited on a weekday evening.
Parking is easy — there's a dedicated lot right in front of the restaurant, and there were plenty of spots along the side alley too, so I didn't have to worry much about parking. Let's head inside.
Inside Goban Sikdang: group room and high chairs
The interior of Goban Sikdang Suncheon Jorye Branch was clean and well organized overall. The tables extend generously toward the back, making it comfortable for two people to dine, and also spacious enough for a larger group. There's separate group seating too, which looked great for family meals or work dinners, and a high chair was set up on one side, making it convenient to visit with kids.
What comes on the 59,000 won Geunbon Assorted Platter?

You order through the QR code on each table. The menu ranges widely, from various pork cuts like belly and neck to Korean beef (hanwoo), and there was also an event where writing a review gets you a free spicy tuna hand roll or a drink. We ordered generously: the 'Geunbon Assorted Platter' (₩59,000), 'Myeongin Pollack Roe Rice' (₩5,000), 'Hangover Ramyeon' (₩5,000), and to drink, 'Chamisul' soju (₩5,000) and the wine-soju 'Goma Grazie' (₩6,000).

Soon after, they neatly set out side dishes that go well with the meat. Overall they were dishes that don't overpower the flavor of the meat, and I especially liked how many different sauces there were.

Next came the basic doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and geotjeori (fresh kimchi), both included as standard sides. The doenjang jjigae's savory aroma alone was appetizing, and it was more substantial inside than expected. The geotjeori, too, had fresh vegetables well seasoned — perfect as a bite between pieces of savory meat.

Staff-grilled pork belly: the first bite with just salt
Then the main dish of the meal, the Geunbon Assorted Platter, arrived. Even at a glance, the meat looked great, and the portion was quite generous for two people. The most convenient part of Goban Sikdang was definitely that staff grill the meat for you — from placing it on the grill to cutting it into bite-sized pieces, they handled everything, so we could just relax and chat while waiting. Note that ssam (wrap) vegetables are only provided if you request them, so ask the staff if you'd like some.

Before the meat was ready, they first grilled the vegetables placed alongside it deliciously. Soon after, the pork belly was grilled to a golden brown and neatly set aside on the grill. For the first bite, I did as the staff suggested and dipped it lightly in salt only — the more I chewed, the more the juices came through, and it was plenty delicious with just salt.

Pork neck with garlic sauce at Goban Sikdang
After we'd had our fill of pork belly, they grilled the pork neck next, one piece at a time. Grilled thick, the pork neck was golden on the outside and not overly dry inside, so it was tender to chew. Personally, I especially liked pairing it with the pungent garlic sauce — the distinct aroma of garlic naturally added to the pork neck's mild flavor and brought out a lot more depth.

Myeongin Pollack Roe Rice and Goma Grazie wine-soju
Next, they brought over the Myeongin Pollack Roe Rice we'd ordered as a side. One bite in, the distinct umami of the pollack roe blended well with the rice. Overall it had a familiar, comforting flavor that felt like something kids would especially like. As for the Goma Grazie we'd also ordered, I thought a 'wine-soju' might be a bit heavy or sweet, but in reality it centered on the clean flavor typical of distilled spirits, making it easy to drink without feeling too heavy.

Ending with bean sprout and dried pollack hangover ramyeon
Finally, craving a spicy broth, I ordered the hangover ramyeon (haejang ramyeon). Loaded with bean sprouts and dried pollack, it looked exactly like a proper hangover cure. The broth centered more on a sharp, refreshing flavor than sheer spiciness, and the crunchy bean sprouts made it feel even more refreshing. Highly recommend this staff-grilled pork BBQ restaurant in Jorye-dong, Suncheon.
