A date at Manpo Galbi in Yangju with my galbi-loving best friend
Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch was strongly recommended by my best friend, who had already been with her family and whose soul food is galbi. Seriously, even on her birthday, when I offer to buy her something expensive, she just sings "gal-bi, gal-bi." So for today's date, I decided to feed her galbi! She went with her family not long ago and said it was so good that she wanted to come again. Today's Yangju restaurant pick is... ta-da!

Is parking easy at Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch?
The parking lot at Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch is huge, so no parking worries at all. Restaurants in Yangju all seem to have big lots! You can absolutely stop worrying. Even Mad Max could park here.
The sign by the road is big too, so it's easy to find. A galbi place that gives free Hamheung naengmyeon, what an impact!
Such huge pride in their galbi! Looking forward to it. Charcoal fire really is the foundation, after all.
Naver reservation at Manpo Galbi: table setting and yukjeon, yukhoe sides
I had booked through Naver before visiting, and the table was already set when we arrived. There was onion prepared too, so you can take as much as you like.
Such neat side dishes, plus yukjeon (beef pancake) and yukhoe (beef tartare)! "I didn't order these!" I said, but they were just the basic sides. (I don't know whether they refill them.) For the rest of the side dishes, use the self bar.
See? It's always stocked, so you never run short.

You order by kiosk at Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch. We ordered 2 servings of handmade marinated galbi, pudding steamed egg and a Coke Zero. We decided to order more meat if we ran short, because I remember always ordering 3 servings and ending up stuffed, sob.
Ta-da, the pork galbi arrives. It looks amazing... Is this the galbi of Yangju's famous Manpo Galbi?!
How to grill marinated pork galbi without burning it
Marinated pork galbi needs flipping as often as possible, juices or no juices, or it burns. Put it on the grill and sizzle, sizzle! And when it comes to men who grill meat, that's me, isn't it? Otherwise it all burns for real, total blackness;;
In the meantime, a bite of the pudding steamed egg. It was so fluffy and well seasoned, really delicious.
And here's the golden, perfectly cooked pork galbi. Not burnt at all, right? Well grilled, right? (shrugs) Sizzle~
How does Manpo Galbi's handmade marinated galbi taste?
The marinade on the handmade marinated galbi was properly sweet and salty. Time to dig into this tasty galbi. So good... even wrapped in lettuce, the meat flavor stays intense.
Free naengmyeon (cold noodles) and brisket doenjang rice at Manpo Galbi
The highlight of Manpo Galbi: naengmyeon to eat with your galbi is free! I'd had makguksu (buckwheat noodles) for lunch, but I can't resist naengmyeon. Mul naengmyeon ordered right away! Plus brisket doenjang sul-bap (soybean paste rice pot), let's go.
The brisket doenjang sul-bap was boiled down really rich and so delicious. Packed with brisket and plenty of other ingredients.
And then the free mul naengmyeon, wow! But why is free naengmyeon this good? I ate it without adding any vinegar or mustard. The seasoning was just right and the portion big, so happy happy.
Save a little galbi to eat with the naengmyeon!
What desserts does Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch offer?
There's a self-serve dessert corner behind the cashier at Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch. After paying, I turned around and found dessert ready too, this Yangju restaurant is something! They even have ice cups, so I had an Americano for dessert.
For kids who can't drink coffee there's even puffed-rice ice cream, so I put ice cream on a puffed-rice cracker and ate it. It might work as an affogato too? Manpo Galbi, caring about dessert after galbi, you really are... the love 💙
Is Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch worth a return visit?
Manpo Galbi, the Yangju galbi spot my best friend recommended, and her pick was right again. The staff were really friendly, and even though it was busy, the spacious restaurant meant no discomfort, and we finished with a perfect dessert. If you want a group dinner or family gathering in Yangju, come to Manpo Galbi ☺️☺️
