Today's story is about a Gojan-dong group-dinner spot I visited with the kids for a family meal: Songnim Bok Jangeo Freshwater Eel All-You-Can-Eat Ansan City Hall Direct Store (송림복장어민물장어무한리필 안산시청 직영점)! It seems to be one of those places that are popping up everywhere lately, and with boknal (the hottest days of summer) coming up, I went to see if it's good for taking your parents. Use my review as a reference if you're planning a family meal! 👍
Where is Songnim Bok Ansan City Hall, and how is the parking?
The restaurant is at 33 Danggok-ro, Danwon-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi, Units 201 and 202, open daily 11:20 to 22:00 (last order 21:00). You can park in the building, but there's a public lot right in front, so if you have a Gyeonggi Ttokdi Ansan multi-child card, I recommend that lot.
The public lot has roomy spaces, and the multi-child card gets you up to 3 hours free.

Go up to the 2nd floor and wander a bit, and you'll find Songnim Bok in a corner. It's tucked away, but the signs are well placed, so no need to worry.

Is there enough seating for group dinners and family gatherings?
The place is spacious, with everything from 4-person tables to tables that suit groups of 10 or more. I think that's why it has a reputation as a good spot for group dinners!
The tables are also spaced very widely, so there was no worry about bumping into the next table or noise from neighbors.
How clean is the self-serve bar?

The self-serve corner was kept very clean and tidy, as if the staff check and wipe it all the time! Hygiene is the first thing you notice at a self-serve corner, and if sauces and side dishes are splattered all around, you don't really want to touch anything.
The utensils and the all-you-can-eat ingredients like eel and pork belly all had their lids properly closed and were neatly arranged. A great first impression.
How much is the all-you-can-eat at Songnim Bok?
- Adult ₩29,900
- Child ₩14,000
- Preschoolers free
- Table setting fee ₩3,000 (children excluded)

The first set and the free bokbunja
The staff set up our first round, bringing out eel, pork belly and chicken neck, and they explained carefully how to grill everything. That day we also got bokbunja (Korean black raspberry wine) free as an opening event. Eel and bokbunja..!
For our family getting through the hot summer, this is a stamina-boosting Ansan City Hall restaurant you should definitely take your parents to.

Can you grill charcoal eel without burning it?
I grilled it the way the staff showed us, and even over charcoal the eel didn't burn at all. It locked in the juices and came out bursting and delicious!
I honestly grilled so well I wondered if I was Private Kang Seongjae in a past life..? Look at me go~~~!

Add a glass of bokbunja and this is heaven. Some places have drink fridges that aren't cold, but at Songnim Bok the alcohol and drink fridges are kept very cold 👍👍👍

Is adding mul-makguksu after the eel a good idea?
I ordered mul-makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles in broth) separately, and it was perfectly timed. I'm someone who has to have icy naengmyeon or makguksu after charcoal-grilled meat, and the cool, tangy flavor wiped out the greasy richness, so I didn't need any digestive aid.

Eel takeout and snacks sold in the store
On the way out I noticed that Songnim Bok sells eel in 1kg takeout packs too! It would be great to take along camping. Eel cooking moist over charcoal..💞 Just imagining it is so good💞

By the exit they also sell eel essence and snacks that hit the spot for older folks, like kkwabaegi (twisted doughnuts) and nurungji (scorched rice crisps)! From group dinners to family meals, this Ansan City Hall restaurant gets my approval!!
