Cleansing balm for very dry skin: HEEDA Jirisan Charcoal

How did it feel after cleansing on dry skin?

My skin is extremely dry and feels tight in cold weather, so I am always concerned about cleansing products. After washing with this product, my skin felt hydrated and moist, and I felt less of the usual tightness that makes me reach for toner right away.

My skin is somewhat sensitive, so irritating products can sometimes cause redness. Right after use, though, I did not notice an irritation response such as redness.

How did the texture change and how did I use it?

It was unfamiliar at first because it is a black solid balm containing charcoal. It felt firm and somewhat stiff, but when I gently rolled it over my skin, it melted with body heat and turned oil-like.

• I scooped out an appropriate amount with the spatula built into the lid.
• I first rolled it over my skin until the balm turned oil-like.
• I added a little water, emulsified it until white, and rolled it thoroughly.
• I rinsed several times with lukewarm water.

How much makeup did it remove?

I applied lipstick, mascara, eyeliner, eyebrow product, and foundation to my skin to check its cleansing power. After rolling with the balm, adding water to emulsify it, and rinsing with lukewarm water, everything except the mascara was removed.

Because I did this test without an eye-specific remover, some mascara remained. The cleansing feel for daily makeup and the hydrated feeling after washing were especially memorable.

What were the container and ease of use like?

The one-touch lid has a built-in spatula, which made it convenient and felt hygienic to use. For me, having tried various textures while looking for a hydrating cleansing product suited to dry skin, this was a product worth continuing to use.
