Taegine Jogae Jeongol Geomdan Ara Branch (택이네조개전골 인천검단아라점) is a seafood restaurant specializing in clam soup and clam hot pot near Ara Station in Geomdan New Town, Incheon. On a Sunday at 1:30 pm, the writer ordered the soup and bossam set (clam soup, bossam boiled pork and young radish greens barley rice, under ₩30,000 at the time of the visit) with butter-grilled shrimp, then had self-serve ice cream. With soup, meat and rice in one set, Taegine's soup and bossam set was good value for a weekend lunch.

Gangneung gift café: sharing 3 sand flavors at work—Gangneung Sand

Gangneung Sand Main Branch is a souvenir dessert shop and café on Seonggokgoyang-gil in Gangneung, with a café, a sandbox play area and an observation deck across its floors. The writer bought coffee, strawberry and Chodang corn Gangneung Sand cookies plus breakwater bread to share with coworkers, and strawberry was the favorite; a 10-piece box costs 16,000–17,000 won. Gangneung Sand Main Branch is a bit out of the way, but it is worth a special trip if you are looking for Gangneung souvenir snacks.

Daecheon Port fish shop: 2kg shrimp plus shellfish to go, Nokdo Susan

Nokdo Susan (녹도수산) is a two-stall seafood shop at stalls 57 and 58 inside the Daecheon Port fish market in Boryeong, Chungnam. On a Sunday afternoon visit, the writer packed 2kg of raw shrimp, 1kg of scallops, 1kg of conch and 5 abalone to take home, then salt-grilled the shrimp, butter-grilled the shrimp heads and enjoyed the conch, scallops and abalone fresh. Nokdo Susan is an easy place to pick up seafood to take home from Daecheon Port.

Gimpo Korean restaurant for squid pork stir-fry: Okdoenjang Gurae

Okdoenjang Gimpo Gurae Branch is a Korean restaurant specializing in doenjang (soybean paste) hot pot and duruchigi (spicy stir-fry), located on the ground floor of the Megabox building in Gurae-dong, Gimpo. Two diners visited at 8 PM on a Tuesday and ordered the squid and pork duruchigi with added kalguksu noodles and rice. Scallion kimchi and stir-fried kimchi with meat came as side dishes. The seasoning is on the strong side, so with rice Okdoenjang makes a filling dinner choice near Gurae Station.

Bomseol Gimpo is a Korean set-meal restaurant (hanjeongsik) on Geomdan-ro in Gamjeong-dong, Gimpo, Gyeonggi, with partitioned tables and group seating that make Bomseol Gimpo an easy choice for dining with parents. On a Saturday at 2pm, the Bomseol Table for 2 brought braised pollock (kodari jorim), stir-fried spicy pork (jeyuk bokkeum), cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), stone pot rice and a full spread of seasoned vegetable side dishes, with extra barley rice from the self-serve corner. Bomseol Gimpo is a good pick in Gamjeong-dong when you want a generous Korean meal in a quiet setting.
