Sinnonhyeon terrace café for a date, fig cake: Something About Coffee
In short
Something About Coffee is a café and dessert shop on Gangnam-daero 102-gil in Gangnam, Seoul, near Sinnonhyeon Station, with seating on floors 1 to 3 and an outdoor terrace. After a date with her husband, the writer sat at a green table on the Something About Coffee terrace with a matcha coffee, a café latte, a financier and a fig cake, and found both the drinks and the desserts delicious. Something About Coffee is a good Sinnonhyeon café for ending a date with coffee and dessert on a fine day, as long as you plan for the stairs and the terrace's exposure to the weather.

If you're looking for a Sinnonhyeon Station café with desserts and a terrace, let me tell you about Something About Coffee, where I went with my husband. It's a roomy place spread over 3 floors with outdoor seats too, so it was lovely for relaxing over coffee on a nice day. I'll walk you through our two drinks, two desserts and the space, in order.
We'd had our date and stopped in for a cup of coffee. 😊

Why Something About Coffee to end our date?
I picked Something About Coffee because you can sit and rest with a drink and a dessert together. You know that feeling when the meal or the date is over and it's too soon to part ways or head home? We wanted a little more time together, so we looked for a place for coffee and dessert. Here we didn't just pick drinks, we could add a dessert too.

Looking around from the entrance to the interior was fun too. The seating mood isn't just one single style. I think it'll help anyone choosing a Sinnonhyeon Station café by looking at both the menu and the space.

What are floors 1 to 3 of Something About Coffee like?
Something About Coffee uses floors 1 through 3. If you were picturing a small one-floor space, it feels quite different. You can go up and down checking out the seats, and the window seats and indoor seats had different moods.

For me, the time spent looking around for where to sit was as good as the time choosing the menu. Floors are connected by stairs, so if you're carrying lots of bags, check the route first. Big and easy to move around are two different things, after all. With a child, it's also a good idea to decide which floor you'll sit on first.

How was our time on the outdoor terrace?
The space I liked best that day was the outdoor terrace. I could drink my coffee feeling the sun and the breeze. Setting the drinks on the green table felt different from drinking indoors.

It was nice to sit across from my husband and take a short break. In a busy day, a little breather like this is welcome, right? If you're after a Sinnonhyeon Station café with outdoor seats, look at the terrace photos to get a feel for it. But outdoor seats change with the weather. On days with strong sun or wind, take a look at the indoor seats too.

Which four items did we order at Something About Coffee?
That day we had a matcha coffee, a café latte, a financier (small almond butter cake) and a fig cake.

The display case had lots of desserts too. It's fun to pick by looking at them in person. The lineup and what's on sale can change by season, so if you're after a specific dessert, check before you go.
How were the matcha coffee and café latte?
We enjoyed both the matcha coffee and the café latte at Something About Coffee. The green color of the matcha coffee caught my eye first, and it matched the terrace mood nicely. Setting it next to the café latte was fun too, since we'd picked different drinks.

We both enjoyed our drinks, and they were nice to sip slowly with desserts. Whether you're in a matcha mood or a latte mood, you can each pick what you like and still sit together, which I loved.

And the financier and fig cake?
We liked both the financier and the fig cake at Something About Coffee too. The financier, a baked treat on a plate, looked like the perfect thing to put next to coffee. With the fig cake you could see the cross-section and the figs on top, so naturally we took lots of photos.

I enjoyed both the financier and the cake. I couldn't bear to pick just one, so I'm glad we ordered both. When you come as a pair, it's fun to put different desserts down and try each other's. It was a "just my taste" kind of moment. This time the drink and dessert combo won me over.

Good points and things to check at Something About Coffee
I liked the 3 floors, the terrace and the coffee and dessert combination at Something About Coffee, while the stairs and the terrace weather are worth thinking about beforehand.
- You can look around 3 floors and choose a seat. Helpful if the mood of the space matters to you.
- There's an outdoor terrace. Great for relaxing in the breeze on a nice day.
- You can enjoy coffee and dessert together. Worth considering as one more stop after a date.
- It's fun for two people to pick different items. We set our matcha coffee and latte side by side.
- You can see both cakes and baked treats. Check the day's display for the dessert you want.

One thing to consider beforehand is moving between floors. There are stairs, so look into it if you have lots of bags or are with a child. The terrace is also affected by sunlight and temperature. Keep the indoor seats as an option depending on the weather.
