Herb-cured salmon donburi wrapped in gim in Hanam Misa: Roi Sikdang

In short

Roi Sikdang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a Japanese restaurant serving rice bowls and pasta in Misa Riverside City, Hanam, Gyeonggi. The herb-cured salmon rice bowl arrives with thick-cut salmon you wrap in gim (dried seaweed), and the 100% fresh cream mentaiko pasta comes topped with king shrimp tempura. Because Roi Sikdang does both rice bowls and pasta well, two people can order one of each and share.

I was looking for a place in Hanam Misa where I could try both a rice bowl and pasta, so I visited Roi Sikdang Hanam Misa Main Branch.

Looking at the menu, the selection was surprisingly wide — everything from sukiyaki to salmon rice bowls, beef belly rice bowl, cold buckwheat soba, udon, and pasta. This time, to properly enjoy salmon and mentaiko (salted pollock roe), which I love, I ordered the herb-cured salmon rice bowl and the 100% fresh cream mentaiko pasta.

The two dishes were completely different in style, which made this a great Hanam Misa spot to order together and share.

Where is Roi Sikdang Hanam Misa Main Branch?

Roi Sikdang Hanam Misa Main Branch is located at 75 Misagangbyeonbuk-ro 30beon-gil, 1st floor, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do.

It sits right within Misa Riverside City, so it's convenient for nearby residents to drop in for a meal, and with cafés and restaurants around, it also works well as part of a Misa date course. Since the restaurant is on the first floor, it wasn't hard to find either.

Where do you park at Roi Sikdang?

Given the nature of Misa Riverside City, a lot of people visit by car. Roi Sikdang is fairly easy to reach by car too, but the area can get congested during weekends or meal times, so I'd recommend visiting with some time to spare.

There's parking available right in front of the restaurant, and it looked like some people were also parking nearby before coming in to eat.

Rather than a formal restaurant, it leans more toward a casual place where you can comfortably enjoy a good meal, so it suits family meals, dates, or meals with friends equally well.

They also say cooking starts the moment you order. Even if it takes a bit longer, I liked that this meant getting freshly cooked food instead of something premade.

What's on the menu at Roi Sikdang?

Roi Sikdang has a wider menu selection than I expected.

Representative rice bowl dishes include the fully aged sukiyaki, the 11-day aged yuzu salmon jang, the herb-cured salmon rice bowl, the fried eggplant meat rice bowl, and the beef belly rice bowl.

For noodles, there's the 100% fresh cream mentaiko pasta and cold buckwheat soba topped with king shrimp tempura, udon, and tempura udon, and you can also order salmon sashimi and yuzu salmon jang separately.

There are also side dishes like shrimp, crab meat, chicken, and king shrimp tempura, so it's great for groups who want to order a variety and share. The fact that the full-table set menus come with free rice refills is also a plus for anyone wanting to eat their fill.

Herb-cured salmon rice bowl, wrapped in gim

Full spread of the herb-cured salmon rice bowl at Roi Sikdang

The first dish was the herb-cured salmon rice bowl. As you can see in the photo, there was a generous amount of salmon piled on top of the rice, which was satisfying from the moment it arrived.

Thick slices of salmon piled generously on the herb-cured salmon rice bowl

The thickly sliced salmon looked appetizing, and it had a nice soft texture with a rich, savory flavor. With a little wasabi on top and radish sprouts and onion alongside, it cut through the richness of the salmon well, so I could enjoy it all the way to the end.

Wrapping rice and salmon in gim to eat

Wrapping the rice and salmon together in gim was also great. It came with soup, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), and side dishes, so it felt less like a single bowl of salmon rice and more like a proper full spread. If you like salmon, this is a dish I'd recommend.

100% fresh cream mentaiko pasta with king shrimp tempura

The second dish was the 100% fresh cream mentaiko pasta, marked as recommended on the menu. In the photo, there's a generous amount of mentaiko on top of the cream pasta, along with broccoli, cherry tomatoes, and fresh vegetables — it looked appetizing just from the colors.

I wish they'd throw in one more piece of king shrimp tempura. One piece just left me wanting more haha.

Mixing the salty mentaiko little by little into the rich cream sauce and eating it with the noodles brought out both a savory nuttiness and umami. Adding the crispy king shrimp tempura on top gave it a nice change in texture too.

If you like cream pasta but want something a bit different from the usual, this is a dish worth trying.

Who Roi Sikdang Hanam Misa suits best

Table set with both the salmon rice bowl and mentaiko pasta

The biggest reason I'd recommend Roi Sikdang Hanam Misa Main Branch is that you can enjoy completely different types of dishes in one place. If one person wants a salmon rice bowl and the other wants pasta, there's no need to argue over what to order.

In particular, the herb-cured salmon rice bowl with its generous salmon is one I'd recommend to anyone who loves salmon, and the 100% fresh cream mentaiko pasta was satisfying for letting you enjoy the umami of mentaiko, the cream sauce, and king shrimp tempura all at once. It's also a plus that the atmosphere is relaxed enough for dates, family meals, or meals with friends.
