Why I Choose a Buffet for Family Meals

Where do you go when you eat out with family? It is not easy to settle on a meal that suits everyone’s tastes, so I tend to prefer buffets.

Especially when several people are eating together and everyone wants something different, it is nice to freely try this and that at a buffet rather than choosing a restaurant focused on just one dish. I usually love sushi and sashimi, so I look at their quality when choosing a buffet. Sushi buffets can make you worry about the quality, but Kuu Kuu has satisfied me every time, so I go there with confidence.

Getting There from Hagye Station and Parking

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch (쿠우쿠우 노원점), a sushi buffet in Nowon, is on the sixth floor of Seoul Oncheon Building. It is within walking distance of Exit 2 of Hagye Station on Line 7, which made it easy to visit by public transportation. The building itself stands out, so even first-time visitors should find it easily.

Parking is free for up to two hours, and the parking entrance is at the rear of the building.

A Spacious, Lively Restaurant Even at Weekday Lunch

We visited during weekday lunchtime, and it was incredibly busy despite being a weekday. I almost wondered whether every office worker in the neighborhood had come to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch.

The restaurant is spacious, so we could still eat comfortably even with so many people around. Since it is clearly popular on weekends and at lunch and dinner, it may be good to arrive a little early.

I think buffets are better when they are busy, because the turnover is high and you can have food that is tastier, warmer, and freshly put out. Kuu Kuu in Nowon was just right in that sense.

We took a neatly set table and went off to eat. There were plenty of staff, and they cleared the dishes right away after we finished, so we could dine comfortably.

Sushi with Every Kind I Like

There was a whole spread of sushi that looked very fresh and high quality. They made a wide variety continuously, so I could eat with confidence. Every sushi type I like was there, so sushi-loving Gureumi was very excited.

Personally, the lemon shrimp sushi was the most delicious.

Next to the sushi were soy-marinated shrimp, blue crab, mulhoe (spicy cold raw-fish soup), salmon, tuna, and more. The soy-marinated shrimp and marinated crab were so delicious.

There were also lots of different rolls. They were generously topped, which made them look even tastier—and they really were.

Hot Dishes That Are Great with Kids

There was a wide range of hot dishes too: tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), sundae (Korean blood sausage), fried rice, tteokgalbi (grilled minced beef patties), and sausages.

There was also kkwabaegi-style sweet-and-sour pork, which children are sure to love, and mala shrimp for adults. Personally, the malhaseyo was especially delicious.

The steamed clams were also one of the dishes I personally enjoyed.

From mala tang, which I love, to seaweed soup that children enjoy, I think it would be good for visitors coming with young children too.

Another dish I personally enjoyed was the pumpkin porridge. It was sweet and rich, so I went back for it several times.

There were also plenty of kid-friendly pizza, soup, dumplings, and fried foods, plus fries, which my child liked.

There were many types of pasta as well.

Everything was warm and tasty, so as I sampled one dish after another, I got full in no time.

Cheese-Sauce Grilled Oysters and Plenty of Desserts

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch, a good spot for Nowon family gatherings, also has oysters on the menu. They were grilled oysters topped with chojang (sweet-and-tangy red chili sauce) and cheese sauce.

I especially liked the grilled oysters with cheese sauce, so I went back for them several times.
