Daegu restaurant with kiosk ordering and free parking: Geumdeungeo

Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch is a wood-fired mackerel restaurant on Deulan-ro in Suseong, Daegu, where the mackerel is aged with nuruk (Korean fermentation starter). On a weekday lunch visit, Geumdeungeo served wood-fired grilled mackerel, jeyuk-bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) and kkomak-muchim (seasoned cockles), ordered at a kiosk and delivered by a serving robot, with a full spread of banchan on the table within 5 minutes of sitting down. With 90 minutes free in the restaurant's own parking lot, Geumdeungeo suits both a family meal by car and a quick office lunch.

Pork gukbap with a kid, dadaegi removed at Bongga Gukbap, Geoje

Bongga Gukbap is a local gukbap (pork rib soup) restaurant on Giseong-ro in Geoje-myeon, Geoje. The writer ordered mixed gukbap, pork gukbap, and small suyuk (boiled pork), and with a child along, the owner made a clear-broth pork gukbap without dadaegi (chili paste) and even provided a baby spoon. Opening at 7:30 AM, it's a great first meal for a Geoje trip.
