When you're looking for a nice-atmosphere restaurant in Gangseo, there are actually a surprising number of options — which makes picking one kind of hard, right? Especially on days when it's a date or an important appointment and you want both good food and good vibes! This time I visited Una, a Magok One Grove Mall restaurant specializing in Nagoya-style eel rice bowls called hitsumabushi. With calm lighting, clean interiors, and even a separate room, it looked like a great pick for any occasion. And that charcoal aroma — it's the real deal,,

What is Una Magok like inside, near One Grove Mall?
Una Magok is a Japanese-style eel rice bowl restaurant near Magok One Grove Mall. The exterior alone has serious atmosphere, right?

The moment I stepped inside, I really liked the atmosphere. It's mostly wood tones and dark colors, with soft lighting throughout — exactly the kind of setting for a calm meal. There are also partitions between the tables, so you get some sense of separation from your neighbors.

Near the entrance, you can watch the eel being grilled over charcoal. Seeing it turn golden brown really stirs up your appetite,,

Who is the private room at Una Magok good for?
Inside Una Magok there's also a separate room. That makes it a good fit not just for couple dates but also for work dinners, business meetings, meals with parents, or engagement gatherings — the slightly more important occasions.
Personally, this is a place worth shortlisting whenever I'm looking for a nice restaurant in Magok. The owner and staff were also kind, which made for a pleasant meal.
Una Magok menu and how to eat mabushi

We ordered hitsumabushi (₩42,000) and tori mabushi (₩29,000). Una's signature dish, a Magok One Grove Mall favorite, is the Nagoya-style eel rice bowl hitsumabushi, and they also serve items like tori mabushi, topped with charcoal-grilled chicken.

There's a kids' menu, so it's also a good spot for families with children. And a lot of things are refillable — think rice, broth, furikake, basically everything except the eel and chicken!

There's also an opening event giving out lucky lottery tickets, so keep that in mind ㅇ_<

Una Magok takes Naver Reservations, and if there's a wait you can use Catch Table. 🚗 Can you get parking help? Yes — 90 minutes free! Paid corkage is also available, and if you're visiting for an engagement gathering, they give out free champagne.
Hitsumabushi, one whole eel (42,000 won)

First up is a whole hitsumabushi. It comes out as a neat full spread! Along with toppings like wasabi, seaweed, and green onion, you also get pickles, soup, and the broth for ochazoke.

Lifting the rice bowl, you find various side dishes underneath. There are several ways to eat hitsumabushi, but you've gotta start by tasting the eel on its own, right?

I tried a piece of eel with a bit of wasabi on top. The moment it hit my mouth, that gentle charcoal aroma spread through and it was really good. The surface of the eel is lightly grilled with a savory char, while the inside stays soft and moist — I loved the contrast in texture.

After enjoying it for a while, of course the finale has to be ochazuke,, You scoop a bit of rice and eel into a bowl and pour the prepared broth over it.

Eating it as ochazuke makes everything much softer and gentler overall. The broth cleans up the eel's richness in one go, and adding seaweed and green onion brings a fragrant note — perfect as the final course!
Tori mabushi, charcoal-grilled chicken (29,000 won)

The other dish we ordered was tori mabushi. Simply put, it's a rice bowl topped with charcoal-grilled chicken. The portion was bigger than I expected,, golden-brown grilled chicken piled generously on the rice, with egg strips and onion underneath too.

Tori mabushi was a bit lighter than hitsumabushi, with the smoky flavor coming through more directly. Personally, I liked mixing furikake into the rice and eating it that way. The savory, salty furikake gives the rice itself more flavor, and adding a piece of charcoal-grilled chicken on top — man, that's basically a rice-thief dish,,

Chicken broth ochazuke instead of green tea
Tori mabushi also finishes as ochazuke, but here's the interesting part — instead of green tea, you get chicken broth.

It's a rich style broth with the chicken's umami fully drawn out, and as it soaks into the rice it feels a bit like eating a fancy dakgomtang (chicken soup),,? It felt like a completely different dish from the rice bowl I'd just had, and I loved that!

Once you've finished eating and press the call bell, they bring out green tea ice cream. The slightly bitter, sweet ice cream cleans your palate completely — a perfect way to end the meal!
Is Una Magok worth it? Final verdict
Rating: ★★★ Una Magok was satisfying overall, from the food to the atmosphere — a solid pick among Magok One Grove Mall restaurants. The hitsumabushi and tori mabushi both had a proper charcoal aroma and were delicious on their own, and being able to finish with ochazuke made for a nicely varied meal.
The atmosphere is calm and there's even a room, making it a good fit for dates, engagement gatherings, work dinners, or any important occasion. If you want both a great vibe and great food in one place, this is worth a visit :)
