I was craving fresh raw fish today, so I headed to Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch (베테랑종합어시장 인천연수점)! It has lots of meal dishes too, like roe stew and roe rice, so it works for people who love sashimi and people who just want a proper meal, all at the same table! And the best part for me: you can make your own kimchi pancake and even have ice cream for dessert. Totally my taste 🫶🏻
Veteran General Fish Market Yeonsu Branch: location and hours
Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch is at 3F Yeonsu Gwangjang Plaza, 106 Beotkkot-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, South Korea, and it's open daily 11:30-22:00.

The Yeonsu branch is inside a building. I liked that you can enjoy fresh raw fish in a nearby neighborhood without going all the way to Yeonan Pier.

How big is the restaurant, and is it good for groups?
The moment I walked in, I was surprised at how big it is. (It's reeeeeally big!!!!!) The whole place felt clean and comfortable, so it looked good for a family meal or a get-together with friends. Great for company dinners and group gatherings too!

DIY kimchi pancake corner and self-serve bar
The most fun thing here was the DIY kimchi pancake (kimchi-jeon) corner! On one side they have kimchi pancake batter, frying pans and portable gas burners, so you can fry as much as you want yourself. Just spread the batter wide in the pan and cook it golden brown on both sides. Done!

There's also a self-serve bar. They have vegetables like lettuce, several kinds of side dishes, sauces and more, so you can bring over as much as you need.

Ordering 1 serving of flounder sashimi, roe stew and 2 roe rice bowls
We ordered one serving of flounder sashimi, roe stew and 2 roe rice bowls, and the table turned out way more generous than I expected :)

Roe rice: loaded with flying fish roe
The roe rice (albap) came out first. A big black bowl held rice, seaweed flakes and a generous heap of orange flying fish roe. When I stirred it all together with a spoon, the roe spread through the rice and it got even tastier 👍

1 serving of flounder sashimi: packed with fins, thick enough to chew
And finally the flounder sashimi I'd been waiting for! Even though I ordered just one serving, it came neatly arranged on a big plate and looked great. Flounder differs in color and texture depending on the cut, and the flesh was so glossy you could see the grain even in the photo. And it was full of fins, my true love ❤️

It wasn't sliced too thin either, but thick enough to have a real bite, which made me even happier 🤤 The clean, mild flavor typical of flounder came through well, and it was a refreshing thing to eat between richer dishes.

Roe stew: big pieces of roe and milt
Next was the roe stew (altang). It came in an earthenware pot with a red broth that looks spicy just by looking at it! Enoki mushrooms and crown daisy (ssukgat) sat on top, and inside were roe, milt, tofu and more, all packed in. When I scooped up the ingredients, the roe and milt were nice and big, which I loved.

Dessert ice cream and the receipt review event
After the meal, we had ice cream too. The restaurant has an ice cream freezer, so it's a nice sweet way to finish up.

If you're visiting, check out the Naver receipt review event too! Write a receipt review and you can get one of these: 2 dried black persimmons, 2 abalone, or 4 whole shrimp tempura.
The place is spacious and comfortable, so I'd recommend it for family meals and get-togethers with friends too. If you're looking for a good sashimi place or a hearty seafood restaurant in Yeonsu, Incheon, give Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch a visit! :)
