Kids sunglasses for 4-year-olds: Nordic Bebe Greg & Co.

While looking for kids sunglasses, I finally found the item I had been searching and searching for. Once summer arrived, my husband and I wore sunglasses for UV protection and to protect our eyes, and our child was so envious of them. I looked around toy stores and everywhere else for something for little ones, but I could only find toy-like products that seemed as though they might hurt their eyes.

I found the impossible thing.

So today I’m introducing Nordic Bebe kids sunglasses. They are Greg & Co. products, and I heard Nordic Bebe is the official importer?

To be honest, I wondered whether we really needed to buy an overseas product, but I thought products like this might have received more thought and research abroad than at home. I happily bought them, and it has been wonderful seeing my child wear them so excitedly, radiating little-model energy.

Kids sunglasses chosen online

It would have been nice to try them on before buying, but we could not, so I looked online, had them delivered, and tried them out. Every design was adorably pretty and seemed great for little ones. I was not too worried. Apparently, this brand was already famous as a must-have among young parents. This old person had no idea, haha.

They are not toys: they use UV400 lenses, which are said to keep eyes comfortable and block nearly 100% of UV rays. If growing little ones are going to wear glasses, it makes sense to use a properly researched product rather than a toy, right?

We were on our way out in matching family outfits. The younger sibling did not have matching-family clothes yet, though, haha. Happy news—the glasses had arrived—so we took photos together and set off, haha.

They were so nice on a day with strong sunshine! Let me introduce them.

Once we were outside, the sunlight was really dazzling. It was lovely to explain to my child that these were glasses for days like this.

The younger sibling must have wanted glasses too, because they kept fussing to have them. So I held the little one apart from big brother and watched from afar.

A lightweight frame and the pair a friend told me about

These frames are made from recycled plastic, so they are said to be very light and comfortable to wear. Does recycled plastic sound cheap? I hear that in Europe, recycled-plastic shoes can sell for more than ₩2,000,000 a pair, so the material is getting new attention. As well as protecting the environment, I understand it is durable and resistant to moisture.

Nordic Bebe imports Greg & Co.; it is not an in-house development but a product already proven overseas, so I could use it with trust and peace of mind. Little ones, unlike adults, will only wear something if it is completely comfortable, and they do not want to wear it if it is even slightly uncomfortable. There were also many Korean reviews saying children wore them eagerly, thought they were pretty, and loved them, so I thought, this is it, haha.

The biggest reason I bought them was seeing my child’s friend with the green version. They looked so pretty that I thought they were toys and went around toy stores, but while there were toy glasses, there was nothing that looked as nice as these. In the end, I asked the friend’s mother and felt a little embarrassed.

The friend’s mother said, “These aren’t toy glasses. I heard they are a luxury overseas brand, safe for the eyes, and designed by a designer.” We had thought they were just nicely made toys and had asked about toy stores, so we felt embarrassed that we had nearly put an unverified product on our precious little one’s eyes.

Still, although they were called luxury items, the price was not that expensive. They were available for about the price of inexpensive adult glasses—low-priced, high-volume kinds—so we decided to buy them because they were not overly pricey.

My 4-year-old loved them, but they were big for a 12-month-old

While heading out, I gave them to my child as a surprise gift, and my child loved them so much. But the younger sibling looked on and waved those little hands around asking for them, haha.

Really flailing around, right? It was so cute that I asked my child to lend them just once and let the younger sibling try them once. My child said yes! Haha.

It is a wearing photo—pretty, right? At the time of writing, the younger sibling is a 12-month-old who has just turned one, and my child is 4. The product description says they can be worn from about 18 months to 6 years old.

Perhaps because of that, they did feel a little big for the 12-month-old sibling. I wondered whether it was because the little one’s head was small, but when I checked again, the recommendation really did start at 18 months. For the time being, the younger sibling is banned from wearing them, and only my 4-year-old gets them. Still, after seeing Mom and Dad wear glasses while driving or going out, the little one would hold them to their face; trying them on must have been fun. Even now, the little one is beside me fiddling with the glasses, haha.

Glasses size and colors I measured myself

The front width is just under 13 cm. Depending on how I measured, it varied from about 123 to 128 mm, and the space between the temples seems to be about 125 mm. It was difficult to measure the lens diameter exactly with a ruler, but the round lenses are roughly 40 mm, or 4 cm across. The temple length looks about 14 cm when measured from the hinge.

I bought the mocha color. I remember there being 8 colors, but that may change, so I think it is best to check which options are available when buying, haha.

This is my child making every possible serious face and striking a silly pose. Where did my child learn to push them up on top of the head like that? Haha. I do sometimes put mine on my head, so perhaps my child is copying me. It was so cute that I looked at this photo again and again.

I took it in a rush, so the focus is off, haha. Sorry that it is blurry, but unexpectedly, I thought this look was not a bad image either, so I uploaded it. Even from the video, can’t you immediately see how much my child likes these glasses? I’m not recommending these as kids sunglasses for no reason, haha.

No hard case, but there is a cloth pouch

My child even played without taking the glasses off in the car. One thing, though: when you order and receive them, there is no hard case. I think you will need to store them in an adult hard case or get one from an optician.

My child kept wanting to put them in the place where Dad keeps his sunglasses in the car, which was a little awkward, haha.

Instead, there is a pouch made of cloth—more precisely, a material like a glasses-cleaning cloth—that you can put them in. Keep that in mind, haha.

My child and I also had a little sunglasses selfie session. We happened to be wearing matching family outfits that day, which made it look even prettier, haha.

Now my child can pose well, wear the glasses properly, and stick out their tongue cutely. If you are looking for toddler glasses, this is the kind of wearing photo that makes you think, this is it, right? Haha.

My child liked the glasses so much and played around saying, “Dad, these glasses are so nice. Thank you, Dad. Dad, today is so nice.” Once again, I was touched by my 4-year-old, haha.
