Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점) is a snack bar near Gyodae Station that sells gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) and dakgangjeong (sweet-spicy fried chicken) together. I was in the Gangnam area for a skin-care appointment and had time to spare, so I searched for Gyodae Station and Gangnam eats for a quick lunch, found this gimbap place that's good for eating alone, and went! haha

I really love gimbap, and I prefer generously filled, properly made rolls over the franchise gimbap chains. I went looking for a good gimbap place, and it turned out to be better than I expected! haha

Halls Gimbap Main Branch location and the lunchtime atmosphere

Halls Gimbap Main Branch is close to Gyodae Station, so it's easy to get to, and I heard it's popular with office workers at lunchtime! haha I went around 1 p.m. and the shop was still full of customers. It seems to draw not just nearby office workers but also local residents, which made me trust it even more!

There's also an outdoor terrace, which looks great for eating in the breeze on a nice day!!!

Inside Halls Gimbap Main Branch: good for solo meals and group lunches?

Inside, there are seats for eating alone as well as large tables. Here's the interior, just like this! haha There are solo seats, so I'd recommend it if you're looking for a place to eat alone near Gyodae, and with the big tables it's also great for a group lunch in the area! haha

Halls Gimbap Main Branch menu: half-and-half rolls, dakgangjeong sets, cup ramen

Halls Gimbap Main Branch has lots of kinds of gimbap, plus half-and-half rolls, gimbap + dakgangjeong sets and several kinds of cup ramen. The menu was seriously varied! haha Unlike an ordinary gimbap shop, the choice of rolls was huge, and with the half-and-half option you can try several flavors at once! haha They also sell dakgangjeong, so you can't decide, but there's even a gimbap + dakgangjeong set! haha

I personally love the ramen and gimbap combo, but sometimes a whole packet of ramen is too much for me!! Halls sells a variety of cup ramen, so you can enjoy it lightly alongside the gimbap you want, and that was my favorite thing about it! ><haha

After some agonizing, I ordered the Spam double cheese set, a mild Jin Ramyeon and a Zero Cider~ haha Chicken, gimbap and cup ramen, all in one go! haha

How was the dakgangjeong in the Spam double cheese set?

The dakgangjeong in the Spam double cheese set came out warm with no gamey smell, sweet with a little spice. The food arrived fast after ordering, so while I poured hot water into the cup ramen and waited, the gimbap and dakgangjeong showed up!! haha It looked amazing right away! ><haha

The sweet smell coming off the dakgangjeong was unbelievable! haha

I couldn't resist and tried it first. Maybe because they use domestic chicken, there was no gamey smell at all, and being served warm made it taste even better!!! haha The sauce is sweet with a touch of spice, the kind you keep reaching for, and personally I thought it was as good as most chicken specialty shops! haha I even wanted to buy just the dakgangjeong on its own~ haha

Halls Gimbap's Spam gimbap: is it too salty?

The Spam gimbap at Halls Gimbap Main Branch wasn't salty, because the thick egg balanced out the Spam's saltiness. I quickly tried the Spam gimbap too, and I'd worried that Spam might make it too salty, but not at all!! haha The thick egg softened the Spam's saltiness, and the balance was really good!

Double cheese gimbap with mild Jin Ramyeon cup ramen

The double cheese gimbap was nutty and good on its own, and dipping it lightly into the mild Jin Ramyeon broth gave it a different charm. The double cheese gimbap also beat my expectations!!! The cheese's rich, savory, slightly salty flavor made it tasty as is, and a quick dip in the ramen broth added another appeal~ haha Gimbap and ramen really is a winning combo!! ><haha
