Daegu Korean restaurant on Suseong Lake festival day: Geumdeungeo

Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch is a Korean restaurant on Deulan-ro in Suseong, Daegu, serving mackerel cured in nuruk (rice yeast) salt and grilled in a wood-fired oven. On a Suseong Lake Festival weekend, the writer took the bus with her nieces and nephews, waited through remote queuing, then ordered grilled mackerel for three and spicy pork stir-fry for two, with a self-serve banchan bar, sonchae (leafy green) doenjang soup, and gangjeong, coffee and apricot juice to finish. Grilled mackerel for 19,000 won per person and spicy pork at 20,000 won are easy crowd-pleasers, so Geumdeungeo Deulanguil works well for a family outing.
