I went for brunch at HUG HAUS (허그하우스), a place with lush green views over Gyeongui Line Forest Park! It opens early, at 8:30 a.m., so you can have breakfast here, and pets are welcome too, so it's a relaxed spot for brunch before or after a walk in the park.
Where is HUG HAUS and how do you get there from Daeheung Station?

It took me about 5 minutes on foot from Daeheung Station Exit 3. The address is 2F, 80-34 Daeheung-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. It's on the second floor, and since there are so many window seats, lots of them look out over the forest park.

Just take the building's stairs up to the second floor and you'll find HUG HAUS~~
What are the interior and window seats like at HUG HAUS?
The inside is a wood-toned space with plants and lights dotted around, and through the big windows you see the trees of the forest park. I absolutely loved the atmosphere!! I caught myself thinking I wish this were my home... haha. The plants and lights are so pretty, and the calming wood tones made it even better!

With windows like these, you get the green treetops of the park in one sweep. The window seats are really popular, so be sure to reserve before you visit!

There's a big table for groups, and a bar table where you can eat looking outside. There's a wine fridge with a variety of wines too, so a glass of wine on a weekend evening would be nice.

Aren't the plants just so cute and pretty? haha They went really well with the green view outside!
HUG HAUS brunch menu and prices

HUG HAUS has a wide range of brunch dishes, including salads, pasta, open toast, eggs Benedict and jambon-beurre (ham and butter sandwich), plus drinks and alcohol like coffee, beer and wine! And right now it's even corkage free~~ Let's bring our favorite wine to HUG HAUS~~
After some agonizing, I ordered the signature eggs Benedict, the shio kombu (salted kelp) and pecan oil pasta, a matcha latte and a café latte.
- Eggs Benedict: ₩18,000
- Shio kombu and pecan oil pasta: ₩23,000
- Matcha latte: ₩6,500
- Café latte: ₩5,500
How are the eggs Benedict at HUG HAUS?

The signature eggs Benedict is a piled-high plate of ham and lettuce on country bread (pain de campagne), topped with a soft poached egg and plenty of hollandaise sauce. Isn't it gorgeous!!! I took photos while gasping at it, haha

It looked even prettier with the forest view. Maybe because it looked so good, it tasted good too!

I especially liked the hollandaise sauce, and the poached egg was cooked just how I like it. It was smooth but with a slight kick of spice, so I enjoyed it even more~~
What does the HUG HAUS shio kombu and pecan oil pasta taste like?

HUG HAUS's shio kombu and pecan oil pasta (₩23,000) is an oil pasta where lemon and dill come first, followed by the nuttiness of pecans and the saltiness of shio kombu. This one is seriously amazing!! I usually eat shio kombu at izakayas (Japanese-style pubs), so who would have thought of making pasta with it~~ Isn't the owner a genius?!
Squeeze the lemon all over, take a bite, and you get fragrant lemon and dill, then the nuttiness of the pecans along with the salty shio kombu!~!

I ordered it half-doubtful at first, but it tasted like it deserved the "popular" label on the menu! The plump shrimp and the pecan oil go well together, and it's a flavor I keep thinking about.
HUG HAUS matcha latte and café latte

I had a matcha latte (₩6,500) and a café latte (₩5,500) at HUG HAUS, and the latte art was pretty and the coffee tasted good. If you came for brunch, you have to have coffee too, right! I ordered without big expectations, but look how pretty the latte art is!!! The heart didn't fall apart even as I drank. And the coffee is really good too~~

If you're looking for a brunch spot near Gyeongui Line Forest Park, give HUG HAUS a try~~ Enjoy a casual brunch with unusual dishes in a warm, green atmosphere!
