Today I went for a stamina boost at Songnim Bok, the Ansan City Hall eel spot! You can park, so it's convenient by car, and it's known as a Gojan-dong all-you-can-eat eel place, so I figured it would be perfect for a hearty meal.

I like eel and eat it regularly, and this time I wanted to stuff myself with tasty freshwater eel again. If you love eel, the all-you-can-eat part makes it even more exciting.

Is parking easy at Songnim Bok Ansan City Hall?

You can park in the building's underground car park. It's spacious and the parking spaces are wide, so even beginner drivers can visit without worry.

Inside the restaurant as the first customer at 5pm on a weekday

We visited at 5pm on a weekday and were the very first customers, so there was nobody around and I could take photos of the interior in peace. With baby chairs available, it's also a good eel place to bring kids in Gojan-dong.

How do you order the all-you-can-eat at Songnim Bok?

This is the menu. We ordered the all-you-can-eat for 2 adults! The table-setting fee is charged per person, so we added 2 table-setting fees as well.

Side dishes and the first set

The basic side dishes are pickled onion, pickled perilla leaves, green onion kimchi, white kimchi and ginger.

The first round of meat and eel comes as a basic set. The meat is pork belly and chicken neck, neatly lined up so it goes well with the eel.

What's at the self-serve bar?

At the self-serve bar you can help yourself to extra side dishes, wrap vegetables (perilla leaves and lettuce) and a spicy seasoning sauce. The wraps were all there, so we grabbed plenty.

There are scissors and tongs, and even kids' forks and a ladle, so it looks good for visiting with children. Songnim Bok is a Gojan-dong all-you-can-eat spot where you get not just eel but pork belly and chicken neck too. With such a variety of meat and eel, I'd recommend it for family meals and for company dinners in Gojan-dong! The spicy sauce is right up my alley, too.

How did the charcoal-grilled freshwater eel taste?

Songnim Bok sets up charcoal at your table, so you can enjoy eel and meat grilled over charcoal. I figured a subtle smoky flavor would make it even better. I was excited to grill pork belly, chicken neck and of course eel over charcoal!

The eel, lightly scented with charcoal smoke, had no off smell and was tender and nutty. The side dishes were good too: eel and ginger wrapped in a perilla leaf gave a trio of nutty, sweet and salty. The fragrance of the perilla and the sharpness of the ginger cut the richness of the eel, so I enjoyed it even more!

Charcoal-grilled pork belly and chicken neck

The pork belly and chicken neck were tender with no off smell at all. Grilling over charcoal drained the fat, so they stayed clean and light. Since the meat is good as well as the eel, I'd recommend this all-you-can-eat eel place for company dinners in Gojan-dong.

Refills and the spicy sauce combo

The eel was clean-tasting with no fishy smell, so I went for refills. As a Gojan-dong all-you-can-eat eel place, it was nice to eat eel without any pressure. If you're looking for an eel restaurant near Ansan City Hall, I recommend Songnim Bok.

I also had the eel with the spicy sauce from the self-serve bar, and the spicy sauce went well with the mild eel.

Tip for eating grilled eel

Grilled eel tastes even better if you remove the side fins. Don't just eat it as is; take off the side fins and the middle fin first!

I finished with charcoal-grilled chicken neck and charcoal-grilled pork belly. Light meat and light eel made a great combination.
