Oreno Ramen Gangnam is a chicken broth ramen restaurant near Exit 11 of Gangnam Station in Seoul, with a separate counter row built for solo diners. Adding garlic to the thick tori paitan broth made the creamy flavor stand out and cut the heaviness, and noodles, rice and broth can all be refilled. On a day when gukbap or gimbap won't do, Oreno Ramen Gangnam is an easy place to eat one proper bowl alone.
Two Find Peter Beomgye Branch is a Western restaurant on the 5th floor of Park Avenue L, a short walk from Exit 3 of Beomgye Station in Anyang, Gyeonggi. On a weekday visit to catch up with friends, the table shared risotto, chicken salad and spicy shrimp pasta, and the low lighting and wide gaps between tables made it easy to stay and talk for hours. For a quiet place to meet up in Beomgye, Two Find Peter Beomgye Branch is a safe choice.
Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store is a takeout dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken in a glossy sauce) shop right in the middle of Taejo-ro in Jeonju Hanok Village. After a look around Jeonju Zoo and a walk through the village, the writer bought the spicy dakgangjeong with jjondeugi (chewy rice snack) and a beer slush and ate it all back at the accommodation, where the heat built slowly and settled around Shin Ramyun level. For tourist-area food, the mid-20,000s won price and generous portion at Mannyeon Dakgangjeong felt like good value.
