Bucheon bakery ₩1,000 gift wrapping for barley loaves: Chamsae Bori

In short

Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch is a barley bread bakery on Gyeongin-ro near Bucheon Jayu Market in Sosa-gu, Bucheon. Arriving around noon, the grain glutinous barley loaf was already sold out, so only the Daesang barley and rye barley loaves were available, and the whipped cream offered as a sample was good enough to buy alongside four loaves. Chamsae Bori Sikppang also gift-wraps for ₩1,000, which makes the loaves an easy housewarming or gathering present.

Why is it so hot lately?? Day or night, doesn't matter — it's hot enough to drive me crazy! I can barely step outside these days. But since I refuse to be a homebody, last weekend I went out to do some grocery shopping at Bucheon Jayu Market — and before that, I suddenly craved sikppang (loaf bread), so I stopped by Chamsae Bori Sikppang, a Bucheon bread spot famous enough to have won the grand prize on SBS's Living Legends!

What kind of bakery is Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch?

This Bucheon sikppang spot makes healthy bread that kids and grandparents alike can eat with peace of mind — even people managing blood sugar can enjoy it as a blood-sugar-friendly loaf! I'd actually tried to come once before when I was at the market craving bread, but wow, it wasn't even late afternoon and everything was already sold out... So this time I told myself I'd come earlier, and showed up around noon — but even then, a lot of the bread had already sold out. Ugh.

Three barley loaves, and what is sold out by noon

There are three kinds of bread total — Daesang barley, grain barley, and rye barley — and when we visited, the grain barley was already completely gone. Ugh! I wanted to try all three, so bummer. But at least we got to taste two, so I consoled myself with that.

Sign introducing the No. 1 loaf bread shop from Living Legends

This Bucheon sikppang spot is the No. 1 bread specialty shop from Living Legends, and it packs in 10 times more fiber than rice, with 70 hours of silent fermentation, 0% margarine, and a fullness that lasts 30–40% longer — I think that's exactly why it's so popular and why there are always so many customers.

Look at all the bread on display! Doesn't it look so tempting? A lot of it had already sold out though. Ugh. Customers kept streaming in too, so I got anxious thinking someone might snatch up what was left before me haha. Still, it was a relief to see them keep baking more — if I'd been just a little later, I might not have been able to buy anything at all!

And! This Bucheon sikppang spot is running an event where you get a delicious financier for free if you leave a Naver receipt review, so of course I did it haha. Took a bite once I got home — oh, it was so soft and really tasty! If they sell these separately, I'd definitely buy some.

Tasting corner with bread topped with whipped cream

They also serve bread topped with whipped cream as a sample, and after tasting that, guess what — we ended up buying the whipped cream too! My partner totally fell for it haha, and grabbed it right away. I think about three of the samples went straight into our mouths... Other customers who tried it were also buying the cream left and right.

New Zealand butter instead of margarine: is the price worth it?

Chamsae Bori Sikppang uses no margarine at all — only 100% cream, premium New Zealand butter — so it's not just about taste, you get to enjoy the bread in a healthier way too. Making it this way can't be easy, and I wondered if there's even any profit margin left... Since they only use carefully selected quality ingredients, I expected it to be pricey, but it's really not — they're selling it at genuinely great value!

They even have the grand prize win from the Bread War competition under their belt — ha, yep, I definitely came to the right Bucheon sikppang spot. And gift wrapping is only ₩1,000, so it seems like it'd make a great present for a housewarming or a gathering.

Four loaves of Chamsae Bori Sikppang bread packed to go

Four loaves and whipped cream, tasted at home

Got four loaves plus the whipped cream! Left a review and packed in a free financier too, haha. The prices are really affordable, so other customers were also loading up on bunches at a time — we did our fair share of stocking up too ^^ though it's basically a spoiler to say we ate all of it in no time.

Container of whipped cream bought together with the bread

The amount of whipped cream was generous too!

We gave one rye loaf each to my father-in-law and brother-in-law, and lived off the other two loaves for a full week's worth of food. Eating it every day slathered with whipped cream — honestly, it's so good, and it's addictive. If you're looking for the best sikppang bakery near Bucheon Jayu Market, or in all of Korea really, I'd recommend Chamsae Bori Sikppang without hesitation ♥
